Match result: Rijeka

Drawing the first leg 1-1 took Rijeka's unbeaten stretch out to 15 games whilst Hibs' own run sits at nine matches following their Scottish Premier League win on Saturday. We think one of those runs is going to end on Thursday though and we are tipping Rijeka to advance. The first leg was pretty even and both are in good form; that means small margins will decide the match. Rijeka haven't played since the first leg meaning they'll have been able to watch Hibs against Ross County and had plenty of time to prepare. It will see them through.

Both teams to score: Yes

Our next tip is for both teams to find the net. Rijeka have kept three clean sheets on the spin at home but only through poor finishing; they've actually given up 13 shots on target during that trio of matches. Given Hibs haven't blanked in nine matches and considering the firepower they, we expect them to take advantage of those sort of opportunities. Of course, we'd need Rijeka to score as well if we're to win this bet. They've scored 12 goals across their past five home matches with a minimum of at least one goal per game. Of course, both teams also netted in the first leg too.

Anytime scorer: Martin Boyle

Our final prediction is for Martin Boyle to score a goal at some point in the 90 minutes. We've already expressed that we believe there will be goals – and chances galore – in the game. If that pans out to be the case then an in form striker should have a field day; Hibs man Martin Boyle is as hot as they come right now. His 2021/22 campaign is five games old and he's scored five goals. The Rijeka defence won't need to offer him too many chances, that's for sure.

Rijeka vs Hibs: A bit about the teams

Rijeka

Whatever way you look at it the fact Rijeka are unbeaten in 15 matches having won 12 is a bonkers good run of form. Hibs served up one of the tougher bouts they've faced in that time but they've won five on the spin at home and will be confident of making that six now. Goals have been flowing for them on their own patch too and Josip Drmic, who is on loan from Norwich City, will be looking to add to his tally of four goals.

Hibs

Rijeka are on a good streak. So are Hibs though and nine games unbeaten with just two draws in that time is not a run to be taken lightly. Like their hosts, Hibs come fully loaded in the goal scoring department with Martin Boyle and Kevin Nisbet up top ahead of the likes of Kyle Magennis who has bagged two in his last three. Winning this tie away from home is certainly the hard way to do things but they'll come looking to get the result – that is for sure.
