Match Result: Salford
Salford come into this game with a decent pre-season under their belt; they've only lost one match with their last 10, which spans back to last season, reading as won seven, drawn one and lost two. Leyton Orient have had a reasonable warm up ahead of the new campaign as well with notable draws against West Ham and Tottenham. Despite that, we still think Salford will be too strong. They boasted the best home record in L2 last year and in May tucked Leyton Orient up 3-0.
Match Result and BTTS: Salford and yes
We just mentioned the fact the Leyton Orient have had an impressive couple of results in pre-season. That's a big part of why we expect them to net in this match in spite of what has been a decent defensive record Salford have. A goal for Leyton Orient won't do the business though; Salford have scored over one goal in three of their last five matches. We expect them to do the same here; remember, they beat Leyton Orient 3-0 just a couple of months ago.
Anytime scorer: Brandon Thomas-Asante
Our final prediction is for Thomas-Asante to register on the scoresheet at some point in the 90 minutes. The young winger netted five goals in League Two last season and, whilst it's hardly a hatful, two of those strikes came as Salford and Leyton Orient locked horns. If the ball drops to him, he'll have no concerns about firing his shots in on goal. To tip the odds further in his favour, it's plausible that Gary Bowyer gives him the nod to start up front too, which heightens his chances of getting into scoring positions.
Salford vs Leyton Orient: Meet the teams
Salford
Salford come into this season with one ambition; get out of the league. They've come through pre-season in decent form having suffered just one friendly defeat and a home game to start the campaign will suit them just fine; they had the best home form in League Two last season. Vaclav Hladky is a loss between the sticks but with attackers like Brandon Thomas-Asante and old timer Ian Henderson who needs a goalkeeper?
Leyton Orient
Leyton Orient had a pre-season schedule that pitted them against Premier League big boys in Tottenham and West Ham; they emerged reasonably well but have only won three of their last 10 games across all competitions. A trip to Salford is as tough as they come in League Two. In Darren Pratley and Aaron Drinan though they've bought some players in that have experience of playing a higher level. It could help them out here.
