Both Teams to Score
AaB kicked off their 2021/22 Superliga campaign by pocking a useful point at Kobenhavn following a pulsating 2-2 draw and it’s interesting to note that that was the eighth time in 12 domestic fixtures involving Aalborg where both teams found the net. BTTS also landed in each of Midtjylland’s first two competitive assignments of the new season and we expect both teams to give up chances again in Saturday’s tussle.
AaB Double Chance
Midtjylland have a crucial Champions League qualification round second-leg clash with Scottish giants Celtic to prepare for just a few days after they meet Aab and that could open the door for the hosts to take something from Saturday’s game. Midtjylland fell to a 2-1 reverse directly before their first-leg against the Hoops and having played in Scotland as recently as Tuesday, they could be a little jaded for this weekend’s tussle. That in turn makes AaB an interesting prospect in the double chance market.
Under 3.5 Goals
Encounters between AaB and Midtjylland have generally been competitive affairs in recent seasons and their fixtures are usually decided by fine margins. Each of their last eight Superliga meetings produced under 3.5 goals and we’re tipping that pattern to continue in their latest head-to-head on Saturday.
AaB vs Midtjylland: Match Preview
AaB
Having finished a disappointing seventh out of 12 teams in last season’s Superliga, improvement is the name of the game for AaB in 2021/22. Spanish coach Martí Cifuentes – who was appointed in January earlier this year – is the man tasked with leading their charge, though the 39-year-old will need to improve on his modest 33.3%-win rate to get things moving in the right direction.
Midtjylland
Midtjylland ran eventual champions Brondby close in Denmark last season, though their hopes of mounting a fresh title tilt this term were hit by the loss of manager Brian Priske who left to join Antwerp in Belgium. Bo Henriksen – who had been out of work since August last year – was something of a surprise choice to replace Priske, and his tenure started in the worst possible manner last week in the Wolves' surprise 2-1 defeat at home to OB.
