Match Result: Algeria

Algeria are on a tremendous run of form at the moment having won four on the bounce with their last defeat coming way back in October 2019; that was a dozen games ago. Burundi lost their last match, which is their third loss in 10, and have only managed two wins in their previous five. With the quality Algeria have in their ranks, we can't see anything but another victory for them in this game.

To win to nil: Algeria

Our first prediction has already laid out the facts as to why we expect Algeria to beat Burundi but we also think it could be a rather easy evening at the office for the Greens. Of their last five wins only one of them has been by a single goal with a combined score line of 15-2. You obviously have to factor Burundi into the thinking as well and whilst they haven't been turned over much in recent times, they'll have their work cut out to keep Algeria quiet – it's a bet that carries good value too.

BTTS: No

With Algeria's recent form already touched on multiple times, it is perhaps not overly surprising that we're backing at least one side – probably Burundi – will fail to score. Algeria have kept eight clean sheets in their last 15 matches with two in their last three matches; they're more solid at home too with three clean sheets in five. Burundi meanwhile blanked last time out and have scored more than one goal in just two of their last 10 away games.

Algeria vs Burundi: The teams

Algeria

Algeria are one of the most in-form sides in the world having won eight of their last 11 with the other three games all being draws. We realise that is a sentence that might surprise a few but when you consider they have players like Riyad Mahrez, Ramy Bensebaini and Youcef Atal in their ranks. It makes them decent at the back and potentially lethal going forwards.

Burundi

Burundi followers might tell you that they're not on the worst run of form in the world and they'd be right given that they've won half of their last 10 matches. The trouble is, they cannot find any consistency with three defeats and two draws in that time. They don't have any household names in their squad but two of their better players – Youssouf Ndayishimiye and Cedric Amissi – at least give them a solid midfield base. Whether they can handle the talents of Algeria remains to be seen.
