Kaya will get back to winning ways
After a dramatic qualification for the AFC Champions League, Kaya lost their first game of the competition miserably. However, a ten-man Kaya team pulled a goal back in the 81st minute, which was an incredible feat against hosts BG Pathum. Viettel was equally phenomenal because they kept out Ulsan from finding the net in regular time. However, we think poor ball possession and lack of firepower in the final third will be Viettel’s undoing in their second match against Kaya Iloilo.
Both teams will score
Viettel was highly defensive in their first game of Group I against Ulsan Hyundai. The Japanese desperately tried to score but failed to break down Viettel’s well-drilled defence. The only goal in favour of the Japanese team came from one shot on target in the 91st minute. With such a formidable defence, Kaya will equally struggle against Viettel.
Both teams to score: No
Viettel managed only one shot on target in their first game against Ulsan Hyundai. The Vietnam outfit was mostly defensively and rarely looked for goals, which was cemented by the fact that they only had 29% ball possession. On the flipside, Kaya Iloilo had four shots on goal despite having only 38% of the ball in their first match against BG Pathum. Such stats only indicate one thing. We should not expect a lot of goals in this game.
Game Preview: It is a Tough Call for AFC Champions League Debutants Kaya Iloilo and Viettel in their Second Game of the Competition
Both Kaya and Viettel are new teams in the AFC Champions League and hope to show their might against each other in the second match of the competition on Tuesday 29th June 2021.
Kaya Iloilo
Kaya will be without defender Simone Rota who was sent off with a straight red after committing a professional last man foul in the 49th minute of the first game against BG Pathum. While Kaya had already conceded two goals before the red card, their spirits were not dimmed by the misdemeanour as they fought for points and pulled a goal back in the dying minutes of the game. However, a 4-1 defeat to BG Pathum in the first game means Kaya must work their way back to a favourable position in Group F given their need for goals to bridge the gap. Four shots on target, three of which were in the second half resulting in a goal in the 81st minute should inspire some confidence in the squad.
Viettel
It seemed were out to defend their lives in their first game against Ulsan Hyundai. Head coach Hans-Jurgen Gede will likely adopt a similar approach in the second match of the AFC Champions League group stages because it delivered a point against a stronger side.
