Crawley Double Chance

Northampton had made a bright start to the 2021/22 campaign, though the Cobblers’ early momentum hit a brick wall this week with successive defeats in league and cup to Rochdale and Wimbledon. That should soften them up for their visit to Crawley, whose one League Two home assignment to date produced an impressive victory over Salford City. We’re tipping The Reds to make home advantage count again on Saturday and they look a superb price in the double chance market with that in mind.

Both Teams to Score

Northampton have maintained a 100% strike rate in League Two so far this term, netting in each of their first three matches of the new campaign and we fancy the Cobblers to get on the scoresheet again when they take on a Crawley team still searching for their first clean sheet since the summer. The Reds hit seven goals in their last three fixtures however and with their clinical displays in the final third turning heads, we’re tipping both teams to score at The People’s Pension Stadium.

Over 2.5 Goals

Both Crawley and Northampton are capable of producing goals on Saturday and we expect their skirmish to develop into an entertaining affair. Each of The Reds’ last three games produced over 2.5 goals with the net rippling a huge 16 times in total, while Northampton’s last league match against Rochdale delivered a healthy four goals.

Crawley vs Northampton: Match Preview

Crawley’s 12th place finish in League Two last season was considered respectable, though their lack of ambition in the summer transfer market could make matching that achievement tough in 2021/22. Defensively, there are still major issues for manager John Yems to contend with, as evidenced by The Reds’ 6-3 reverse at Forest Green last week.

Northampton’s early unbeaten run came to a surprising and convincing end last week when they were beaten 3-1 at home by relegation candidates Rochdale. The Cobblers had the luxury of playing against ten men in their previous two league fixtures, and they seemed to struggle badly when it was eleven versus eleven against The Dale.
