Man City vs Man Utd: Top free betting tips

Man City will go head to head with Man Utd in the Manchester Derby on Sunday, 3 March at the Etihad Stadium. The Blues need a result to keep pace with Liverpool and Arsenal in a thrilling Premier League title race while the Reds need the points to retain any hopes of playing Champions League football next season. Who will win this high-stakes match in Manchester? Check out our Man City vs Man Utd prediction below.

Total goals prediction: Over 2.5 goals

Manchester City have delivered some heavy blows to their neighbours in recent years, particularly at the Etihad Stadium with the Blues often covering the over 2.5 goals market on their own. The last two derbies at the Etihad have finished 4-1 and 6-3 to the hosts which makes this market very appealing. In terms of United, they play so openly that high-scoring matches have become the norm for them. In each of their last eight Premier League matches, more than two goals have been scored.

Anytime goalscorer prediction: Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland to score anytime is a safe bet in just about any fixture but he has already made a habit of scoring against Man Utd. In four matches against the Reds, Haaland has scored five times so is averaging more than one goal per match against City's biggest rivals. To make matters worse for the red half of Manchester, Haaland comes into the match on the back of scoring five goals in one night against Luton Town.

Correct score prediction: Man City 3-1 Man Utd

If City do beat Man Utd 3-1, then it will be their “worst” win over the Reds at the Etihad Stadium in three years which illustrates how big a job Erik Ten Hag has on his hands on Sunday. If the Dutchman had a full-strength squad available then the match would have perhaps been a more fascinating prospect but with the likes of Martinez and Hojlund out, United's spin looks weak.

Man City predicted lineup vs Man Utd

Man City will be without Jack Grealish for the match against Man Utd on Sunday after the Englishman was forced off with a groin injury against Luton Town on Tuesday night. Grealish, who scored against United last season, would likely have started on the bench anyway so his unavailability isn't a huge blow. There are also question marks around the fitness of Josko Gvardiol who has missed the last couple of weeks with an ankle problem.

Ederson – Walker, Stones, Dias, Ake – Rodri, Bernardo, De Bruyne – Doku, Haaland, Foden

Man Utd predicted lineup vs Man City

A couple of weeks ago it looked as if Man Utd had finally overcome their injury crisis but now they are back to square one. Nine first team players will be unavailable for the derby – Mason Mount, Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Rasmus Hojlund, Tyrell Malacia and Anthony Martial. There are also doubts around Raphael Varane and Bruno Fernandes after the pair played through the pain barrier against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.

Onana – Dalot, Varane, Lindelof, Amrabat – Casemiro, Mainoo, Fernandes – Antony, Rashford, Garnacho

How far will Man Utd fans travel to the Etihad Stadium?

If you are a Man City fan then the answer to this question will be 200 miles+. However, in reality, 90% of the Man Utd away end will be travelling from different parts of Manchester to the Etihad Stadium. The easiest way to get to the Etihad is by taking the Metrolink to Etihad Campus. Alternatively, fans can walk from Manchester City Centre but it will take around 45 minutes.

Man City vs Man Utd: Tickets

As this match is a derby, it won't come as a surprise that all tickets have sold out. Man Utd were given an away allocation of 3,002 tickets for the match against Man City and all of these have been sold to eligible season ticket holders. Given the size of this fixture, be wary of buying tickets for inflated prices via third-party sources.
