Forest Green to Win

With zero wins from their last four matches in all competitions, Forest Green have hit their first bumpy patch of the season, though Rovers performed well last weekend in their 0-0 draw at Exeter – a display that suggested that a return to winning ways was imminent. Forest Green have scored more goals at home than any other club in League Two this term and that firepower could allow them to inflict Northampton’s second defeat of the campaign on Saturday.

Both Teams to Score

The Cobblers have scored in all but one of their five League Two fixtures this season and they should have opportunities to notch again against a Forest Green defence that has kept just one clean sheet in six league assignments since the summer. Rovers have played some scintillating attacking football this season however, and they should be tough to keep out at The Fully Charged New Lawn. We recommend backing both teams to score on Saturday with that in mind.

Jamille Matt to Score Anytime

Jamille Matt has scored three times in six League Two appearances for Forest Green this season and though he is in the midst of a four-game dry spell, his display at Exeter last week hinted that his next goal is just around the corner. Matt mustered three attempts on target against The Grecians and we’re backing him to turn those accurate efforts into goals this weekend.

Forest Green vs Northampton: Match Preview

Forest Green hoping to bounce back

It’s fair to say that new manager Rob Edwards’ honeymoon period is over at Forest Green following a four-match winless streak, though Rovers can still return to the summit of League Two with a victory this weekend. Edwards will need to get front pair Jamille Matt and Matthew Stevens back firing again to begin that ascent after the attackers both hit lean patches at the same time.

Northampton cantered their way to a routine 2-0 victory over Scunthorpe last time out, where they benefitted from an early red card for their opponents for the second time in five League Two fixtures this term. It’s worth noting that The Cobblers took just one point from their previous two fixtures when it was eleven versus eleven however.
