Eintracht Frankfurt to Win
For the first time in the 2020/21 Bundesliga campaign, Adi Hutter's men have seen two defeats in three games. They need to address that result as they close in on their first UEFA Champions League qualification. With Borussia Dortmund breathing down their necks, the Eagles will be looking to ensure victory at all costs against Bo Svenson's exceptional Mainz. It is a tall order for Frankfurt, as the visiting Carnival Club are unbeaten in their last six away trips, recording three victories in succession.
Total Goals: Over 2.5
Mainz's impressive away run has seen them involved in four fixtures where three or more goals have been scored, most recently against FC Cologne. Adi Hutter's charges are no slouches at home and are unbeaten in twelve competitive fixtures, with seven of these fixtures seen three and more goals. Eintracht will be comfortable in the knowledge that Andre Silva continues to plunder in goals and have a reliable deputy in Luka Jovic.
Both Teams to Score: Yes
Eintracht have only managed two clean sheets in their last fifteen home fixtures at the Deutsche Bank Park. Teams have come to test their dominance, gotten on the scoreboard but failed. Mainz have been a different breed ever since Bo Svenson took charge, but they remain unreliable at the back. However, they compensate it with their forays getting forward. FC Cologne will attest to that. Both sides throwing caution in the wind, there should be goals on either side of the pitch.
Frankfurt vs Mainz: Team News and Match Preview
Eintracht Frankfurt
A first UEFA Champions League qualification is on the horizon for Eintracht Frankfurt. However, placement in next year's elite European club competition is not a certainty as Borussia Dortmund are sitting a point behind. Adi Hutter will need to ensure that the end of year target is achieved as a parting away gift. While Andre Silva has established himself as the undisputed talisman, the Portuguese has blossomed from the creative displays of Daichi Kamada and Filip Kostic in the centre of the park.
Mainz 05
At the start of February, Mainz 05 were looking at a possible relegation to the second division. Bo Svenson has ensured that the eventuality is out of their concerns with the Carnival Club matching the best in German top-flight football. They are the only team in Bundesliga undefeated across the last eight matches, and their point haul is only bettered by champions in waiting, Bayern Munich. All of this has been managed after the sale of topscorer Jean-Philippe Mateta to Crystal Palance in January. Robin Quaison has appeared as a leader from his midfield position, scoring four goals in the process.
