Luton vs Man Utd: Top free betting tips
Luton are set to welcome Man Utd to Kenilworth Road on Sunday, 18 February in a match that Luton supporters have been looking forward to since their side were promoted from the Championship last season. Will the Hatters play out another thriller against one of the so-called “big six” or will can Man Utd continue their recent good form? Check out our Luton vs Man Utd prediction below.
Match result prediction: Man Utd to win
Man Utd have turned a corner since the turn of the year and they have just won four consecutive football matches for the first time all season. Several key players have returned to fitness at the same time and the Reds now look like a decent side once again. Last time out, they defeated Aston Villa at Villa Park to end Erik Ten Hag's dismal away record against teams in the top half and that should be a springboard for another away win on Sunday afternoon.
Anytime goalscorer prediction: Rasmus Hojlund
Just as Man Utd have hit top form since the turn of the year so has Rasmus Hojlund. The young Dane was starved of service for the first half of the campaign but has flourished since scoring his first league goal for the club against Aston Villa in December. Hojlund has now scored in five consecutive Premier League matches and we fancy him to make it six in a row against a defence that has conceded seven goals in its last two outings.
Correct score prediction: Luton 1-3 Man Utd
Momentum is everything in football and for the first time this season, Manchester United have it. They look likely to at least catch Aston Villa in 5th place but they have their sights firmly on Tottenham in 4th place. On the other side of the coin, Luton have no momentum whatsoever after losing a two-goal lead over Newcastle a fortnight ago before losing 3-1 at home to Sheffield United last week.
Luton vs Man Utd team news
Luton predicted lineup vs Man Utd
Luton are without three first team players for the match against Man Utd with Marvelous Nakamba, Mads Andersen and Tom Lockyer all unavailable due to injury – or in Lockyer's case, rehabilitation from a cardiac arrest. Luton fans will also have to wait a little longer to see January signing, Daiki Hashioka in action with Rob Edwards allowing the Japanese full-back more time to adjust to life in England. Tahith Chong and Teden Mengi will both hope to start against their former employers.
Kaminski – Ogbene, Bell, Osho, Mengi, Doughty – Barkley, Lokonga – Chong, Adebayo, Townsend
Man Utd predicted lineup vs Luton
The biggest question mark in the Man Utd squad revolves around the fitness of Luke Shaw who was substituted at half time against Aston Villa last weekend. Ten Hag has said he is “optimistic” that the Englishman will feature but doubts still remain. Mason Mount is still unavailable with a long-term injury, while Malacia, Martinez, Martial and Wan-Bissaka will all also be missing for the Red Devils. Despite scoring the winner at Villa Park, Scott McTominay is expected to start on the bench again.
Onana – Dalot, Maguire, Varane, Shaw – Casemiro, Mainoo, Fernandes – Rashford, Hojlund, Garnacho
