Luton vs Chelsea: Top free betting tips

Luton face Chelsea at Kenilworth Road in the Premier League on Saturday 30 December with the hosts looking to put in another impressive display at home against one of the traditional “big six”. Chelsea, meanwhile, are searching for back-to-back league wins for just the second time this season. Our Luton vs Chelsea prediction is for a high-scoring match with a draw the most likely result.

Match result prediction: Draw

Luton have been impressive of late, beating Newcastle 1-0 thanks to a first-half strike from Andros Townsend and then coming from behind to beat Sheffield United 3-2 on Boxing Day. Chelsea, meanwhile, stumbled to a 2-1 win against Crystal Palace last time out with a Noni Madueke penalty securing the win late on. Chelsea have only won back-to-back league games once this season while Luton are a tough nut to crack at home.

Total goals prediction: Over 2.5 goals

The over 2.5 goals market seems a banker here. The market has been covered in eight of Chelsea's last ten matches in all competitions while it has been covered in five of Luton's last seven matches. Luton have already enjoyed high-scoring matches with top-level opposition at Kenilworth Road, most notably the 4-3 loss to Arsenal at the beginning of December.

Correct score prediction: Luton 2-2 Chelsea

Luton have improved their form in front of goal in recent weeks and the Hatters have netted eight goals in their last four Premier League matches. Chelsea haven't been quite as prolific, scoring seven in their last four but between them, they are averaging around two goals a match in recent times. Given that, and Chelsea's poor record in matches directly after a win, a 2-2 draw seems a good bet.

Luton have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the match with Chelsea so Rob Edwards could be tempted to pick the same starting lineup again. The likes of Reece Burke, Dan Potts, Marvelous Nakamba, Tom Lockyer and Issa Kabore are still missing but Jordan Clark could return to the starting lineup after missing the trip to Sheffield with illness. Meanwhile, Carlton Morris could push for a start after impressing off the bench at Bramall Lane.

Chelsea predicted lineup vs Luton

Mauricio Pochettino will have Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer available for selection again after the pair served suspensions against Crystal Palace. Both men should return to the starting lineup while Christopher Nkunku is likely to start again after making his full debut on Wednesday night.
