Shortly before the FA Cup game between Northampton Town and Northwich Victoria yesterday, a fire broke out at the nearby Sixfields Tavern. As always the pub had been busy before kick off with football fans and thankfully everyone was evacuated from the building and no one was hurt. The blaze continued whilst the game was being played at the Sixfields Stadium and could be clearly seen by some spectators inside the stadium. One Northampton fan remarked that watching the fire was 'more interesting than watching the first 80 minutes of the match' as Northampton were two nil down at that point to their non-league opposition, before turning the game around to win 3-2.
