West Ham vs Freiburg: Top free betting tips

West Ham face Freiburg in the Europa League group stages on Thursday 14 December and there is plenty at stake for both clubs. Although both teams have qualified, the winner here will top the group meaning they get to skip the round of 32 and progress straight through to the round of 16. Our West Ham vs Freiburg prediction is for an away win, with rumours swirling of a bug infecting the West Ham squad.

Match result prediction: Freiburg to win

After a poor start to the season, Freiburg have been building some momentum in recent weeks and they have won their last three matches in all competitions. West Ham, meanwhile, suffered a bruising 5-0 defeat to Fulham at the weekend and there are suggestions that a bug has made its way through the West Ham camp. What that means for the match against Freiburg remains to be seen but if they are as flat as they were at the weekend then the German side will win.

Both teams to score prediction: Yes

West Ham and Freiburg have both been good in front of goal this season, with Freiburg the current leading scorers in the Europa League with 17 goals in five games. Meanwhile, West Ham have scored at least one goal in eight of their last nine matches in all competitions and are usually very aggressive at home. What's more, the score finished 2-1 to West Ham in the reverse fixture.

Correct score prediction: West Ham 1-2 Freiburg

We expect the roles to be reversed at the London Stadium on Thursday night with Freiburg overcoming West Ham and progressing as group winners. The Hammers were so poor at the weekend, it's hard to imagine them being the polar opposite of that especially if squad members are still ill. Freiburg are in good form and they will be looking forward to the opportunity to get revenge.

West Ham vs Freiburg team news

West Ham predicted lineup vs Freiburg

David Moyes could have some serious selection issues on his hands if the aforementioned bug is still making its way through the training ground. Under normal circumstances, he would pick his best eleven but it's impossible to know what that looks like at present. In terms of non-bug absentees, Alphonse Areola and Michail Antonio are out with wrist and knee injuries respectively.

Fabianski – Coufal, Zouma, Aguerd, Cresswell – Alvarez, Ward-Prowse, Soucek – Kudus, Bowen, Paqueta

Freiburg predicted lineup vs West Ham

The matter of team selection is a lot more straightforward for Freiburg manager, Christian Streich. Streich watched his team play superbly at the weekend as they beat Wolfsburg 1-0 away from home. The key man for Freiburg will be Vincenzo Grifo who has netted four goals in the Europa League so far this season. The winger is one behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Joao Pedro and will want to bridge that on Thursday night.

Atubolu –  Sildillia, Ginter, Lienhart, Makengo – Doan, Eggestein, Hofler, Grifo – Gregoritsch, Rohl
