Colchester Double Chance

Oldham were beaten in each of their first three League Two matches of the campaign and though Colchester are just two points better off than the Latics, two draws from their opening three games is a much better return. The U’s have shown a doggedness in the season’s early exchanges that should make them hard to topple at Boundary Park on Saturday and Colchester look a decent price in the double chance market as a result.

Both Teams to Score

Oldham have played four fixtures in league and cup this season and the Latics failed to secure a clean sheet on each occasion. That record suggests that they will concede on Saturday, though Colchester’s defensive showing so far has been similarly unimpressive. Hayden Mullins’ men have conceded in each of their last three games, and with reliable defenders thin on the ground in each camp, backing both teams to score could prove a profitable move on Saturday.

Over 2.5 Goals

Some teams produce fireworks whenever they meet and that’s certainly true of Oldham and Colchester who contested a pair of stunning games last term. A staggering 13 goals hit the net across the Latics and the U’s skirmishes in 2020/21 and we expect their latest head-to-head, which will feature many of the same performers, to deliver another exciting fixture on Saturday.

Oldham vs Colchester: Match Preview

Plenty of pundits and observers anticipated a season of struggle for Oldham in 2021/22 and the Latics have certainly lived up to their billing as relegation candidates so far. Athletic were beaten in each of their first three League Two matches of the campaign, scoring just a single goal along the way, though their Carabao Cup triumph over Tranmere earlier this month was a welcome departure from their dismal league form.

Colchester were priced as one of the playoff place favourites before a ball was kicked this season though their early performances could well see those odds altered. The U’s return of two points from three games is the definition of a slow start, though their last-minute equalizer at home to Mansfield last time out should help to raise spirits at the club.
