PSV vs Borussia Dortmund: Top free betting tips

PSV are set to face Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, 20 February in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie. The match represents a fantastic opportunity for both sides with the quarter-finals of the competition looming. Can PSV bring their league form into Europe's top competition or will Borussia Dortmund have too much firepower for them? Check out our PSV vs Borussia Dortmund prediction below.

Match result prediction: PSV to win

PSV have been terrific in the Eredivisie this season and are currently leading the title race by ten points. They have won 20 out of 22 matches in the Dutch top flight this season with their other two matches ending all square so they are on course for an unbeaten domestic season. At home, they have every single game they have played in the league while they are also yet to lose at the Philips Stadium in the Champions League this season.

Total goals prediction: Under 2.5 goals

PSV have been excellent at both ends of the pitch this season but their defensive record is perhaps the most impressive aspect of how they've gone about their business. They have conceded just ten goals in the league all season and in the Champions League, they have conceded just one in their last two matches. What's more, Borussia Dortmund aren't the same team that they were a few years ago and are less flamboyant in attacking areas.

Correct score prediction: PSV 1-0 Borussia Dortmund

We expect this one to be a classic Champions League knockout first leg. Both teams will be happy not to lose this one so don't expect a game full of chances at both ends. PSV's home form has been formidable all season so we are ruling at an away win on Tuesday night. A narrow 1-0 win for PSV is what we are going for.
