Swindon Double Chance

With no wins from their first four competitive fixtures of the new campaign, Salford have limped out of the blocks in 2021/22 and The Ammies could let more points slip through their fingers against Swindon on Saturday. The Robins started brightly with a 3-1 win at Scunthorpe before recording a couple of less impressive results, though their 0-0 draw at home to Tranmere last time out showed that they can mix it with the division’s better teams. We’re tipping a dogged Town to be tricky opponents for Salford and they look an excellent price in the double chance market as a result.

Under 2.5 Goals

A lack of thrust in the final third has triggered Salford’s sketchy start to the season and The Ammies found the net just twice in their opening trio of League Two assignments, though Swindon haven’t fared much better than their goal-shy hosts, netting just once in their last three competitive outings in league and cup. With both sets of attackers stumbling out of the blocks, we’re tipping under 2.5 goals to be scored at The Peninsula Stadium.

Half Time Result: Draw

Salford have been performing well in the early parts of their fixtures this term before fading later on, indeed, 100% of their first three League Two matches of the campaign were level at half time. Swindon meanwhile, were all square with their opponents in two of their three league tests to date and with both clubs prone to cagey beginnings, a stake on the half-time draw market appeals on Saturday.

Salford vs Swindon: Match Preview

Big-spending Salford are hoping to improve on their 8th place finish in League Two last term, though manager Gary Bowyer – who was appointed in March – has struggled to lead his team to success in the early weeks of his first full season in charge. Scoring goals has been a real problem for the Ammies, though they do rank highly for average attempts on target per game (6).

Ben Garner was the man chosen by the new owners at Swindon to lead the club into a new era and there have been some promising signs in the Robins’ early-season performances. Swindon have been creating plenty of goal-scoring opportunities in League Two without finishing them off, and only two clubs in the division have mustered more attempts overall so far.
