Waterford Double Chance

Waterford have been steadily improving since Marc Bircham was appointed as manager in May and The Blues' 1-0 triumph at Finn Harps last week brought their recent points tally up to seven from the last 12 on offer. Following Sligo’s draining test against FH on Thursday, we think a better rested and more energised Waterford could catch their fatigued opponents cold on Sunday, and they look good value in the double chance market with that in mind.

Under 2.5 Goals

Marc Bircham has been working tirelessly to improve Waterford’s defending and The Blues have conceded one or fewer goals in three of their last four Premier Division assignments as a result. Each of the last three of those game produced under 2.5 goals and a similar outcome is anticipated when a more robust Waterford set up against a jaded Sligo outfit this weekend.

Half Time Result: Draw

Sligo have a strong away record domestically this term, though it’s worth noting that six of their ten matches on the road so far were level at the half-time interval. Similarly, Waterford have established a first-half lead only twice in nine attempts at home this season and on that evidence backing the half time draw on Sunday looks potentially profitable at the prices on offer.

Waterford vs Sligo Rovers: Match Preview

Waterford

Things are looking up for second from bottom Waterford under the watchful eye of Marc Bircham and The Blues’ narrow win at Finn Harps last week allowed them to move to within four points of their relegation rivals. Waterford held high-flying St. Patrick’s Athletic to a draw in their last outing at the Regional Sports Centre and they should prove tricky opponents for another of the league’s better teams, Sligo Rovers, on Sunday.

Sligo Rovers

With their European adventure over for another year, second-placed Rovers can concentrate fully on domestic matters from here on in and Sligo will be determined to improve on the performances that saw them drop points in three of their last five Premier Division matches. The unexpected thumping of Bohemians aside, Sligo have looked a little toothless in attack over the past month however, notching one or fewer goals in six of their last seven games overall.
