England vs Iran: Top Free Betting Tips

England's three Lions kick off their World Cup 2022 Campaign against Iran's Team Melli. England vs Iran kick-off at 14:00 CET and you can catch all the action on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, and BBC Sport Website.  The venue for England vs Iran World Cup clash is Khalifa International Stadium, Doha on Monday, 21 November. The Three Lions enter the field after a winless run in Nations League and Team Melli follows an unbeaten run of Friendlies.

Half-Time Result Prediction: England to Win

England didn’t win a single game in the Nations League but ended three of them in draws. However, the team had consecutive victories in Friendlies and the World Cup Qualifiers. On the other hand, Iran won against Uruguay and Lebanon in WC Qualifiers and Friendlies in recent games but ended three of the last five without a victory. The Three Lions and Team Milli meet for the first time and we see England grabbing their first victory of the tournament in this duel. England is priced at 1.35 odds to win the game, which is a 74% winning chance compared to a 24% winning chance accorded to Iran at odds 9.00 on 888Sport. A draw goes for a price of 4.74 but given the strength of the English side, that looks unlikely.

Total Goals Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals

England had successive goalless games recently but they scored three goals in the last game. Iran has also leaked five goals in the previous five attempts. But Persian Lions have also managed the same average of scoring as well in recent duels. Southgate’s men also conceded eight goals in the previous three duels. Given this, a high-scoring total will be our next pick for this game.

Correct Score Prediction: 3-1 to England

The Three Lions scored three goals in the last attempt and they scored at least twice in most of the games before Nations League. Iran has also conceded two goals per game in two of the last three attempts away from home. The Asian team has been on the scoring side in four of the last five games but they didn’t score more than once in four of them. So we believe to see England limiting their rivals and earn a 3-1 victory.

England vs Iran: Form, Recent Games, Predicted Squads

England Preview

The Three Lions only ended their losing streak in the last game and were restricted to a 3-3 draw against Germany at home in Nations League. The terrible form of the front line has cost the team very much, keeping only one clean sheet in six attempts. England ended their Nations League campaign at the last of the table with only three points and will not be playing at the top level next year. The English squad for the World Cup is quite different from the one we saw in the Nations League but the team is far from being a real contender in this World Cup. Unless a miracle has happened and they suddenly start scoring goals, England should be out around the 1/8 or 1/4 finals max.

Iran Preview

Team Milli faced Senegal in the last game and witnessed a 1-1 draw at the end, scoring an own goal for the opposition. Iran ended their World Cup qualification race at the top of the group winning, eight of the ten attempts. The team will have to be more focused on the front line that didn’t score more than one goal in the last three outings.

England vs Iran Predicted Lineups

England Lineup, Madison and Kyle Walker to Miss World Cup Opener

There is a ton of potential in this squad but the vast majority of players are young and still need more experience to be called World Class. We predict Kane, Rashford and Saka upfront; Bellingham, Rice, and Foden in the midfield; Shaw, Maguire, Stones, and Dier in Defense, and Pickford on goal.

Kyle Walker is set to miss England's World Cup opener against Iran, news that is certainly a setback for Southgate as he is forced to make late replacement decisions. The Man City defender had picked up an injury in the league clash with Man United on 2nd October but despite training with the Three Lions in Qatar, Southgate has confirmed Walker is ruled out of today's match against Iran. Walker's absence means Kieran Trippier, Trend Alexander-Arnold Eric Dier or White could fill up his place. James Maddison is also ruled out of the World Cup opener against Iran having not trained with England squad since they arrived in Qatar. Maddison sustained an injury in a league clash with West Ham in the lead to the World Cup.

England is upbeat for a massive win over Iran in today's game, a result that should get the Three Lions off to a strong performance in Group B where they are currently the favourites to lead the pack that constitutes USA and Wales. Southgate has further confirmed that England will take a knee in the World Cup opener as a continued commitment to ending racism in Football.

Iran Lineup

Iran announced their final squad for the World Cup and the biggest players in the country all made it in. The projected line-up for this game against England includes the 11 in a 4-3-3 formation. Abedzadeh is in goal; Moharrami, Kanani, Haji Safi and Hosseini should be in defence; Noorollahi, Ezatolahi, and Sarlak in the midfield; Karim Ansarifard, Taremi, and Jahanbakhsh in the attack.

On Iran's side, Sardar Azmoun is doubtful for the opener. The 27-year-old Bayer 04 Leverkusen forward was included in Iran's world cup squad despite tearing a muscle in a UCL clash with Porto on 4th October. The Bundesliga club had indicated Azmoun will be out for at least 6 weeks. Sardar Azmoun has been a phenomenal player for his country, having scored 41 goals in 61 caps for Team Melli.
