The away fans who visit Anoeta Stadium, the home ground of Real Sociedad, will go into the Fondo Norte, which is the northern section of the ground. It can be reached through Gate 9. The views from this stand may not be the best around. Similarly, there is not too much protection from the elements. Before the matches, away fans may not have many opportunities to hang out in the area, which is located in a quiet part of the town. Still, there are some noteworthy pubs and bars nearby.

Real Sociedad Stadium today is significantly different compared to when it was constructed in 1993. This spacious ground for Real Sociedad was heavily criticised for being too expensive without enough opportunities to build an atmosphere. As a result, renovation works resulted in the stands coming closer to the pitch with the addition of new seats in 2019. Now, the Anoeta Stadium has a continuous set of seats similar to many European grounds.

Real Sociedad, a football club based in San Sebastian, have a passionate fanbase known for their vibrant chants and songs that reflect the club’s Basque identity and pride.

Here are some notable examples of chants and songs associated with Real Sociedad, often sung at the Anoeta Stadium (currently Reale Arena):

  • Txuri Urdin
  • Aupa Real
  • Real, Real, Real Sociedad!
  • Illumbe, Illumbe!
  • Euskal Herria, Real Sociedad!

The stadium can be reached by using the GI-20, irrespective of coming in from the west or east directions. Exit 7 will take the vehicle to the San Sebastian area, where there are numerous signs for the Anoeta Stadium. Even if these simple directions to the Real Sociedad ground are complex, one can simply input the following address in the satnav:

Anoeta Pasealekua 1, 20014 San Sebastián

The lack of many car parking spots is one of the disadvantages of this Real Sociedad stadium. One of the best ways to overcome this issue is through street parking. For this reason, it is advisable to come to the game well ahead of schedule so as to avoid any last-minute hiccups.

By train or metro

Euskotren Trena offers InterCity trains in the Basque region of Spain. The connectivity offered to watch Real Sociedad is excellent. For someone who is using the train, the Anoeta Station is the one to look out for. If heading through the Metro Donostialdea, this will be the closest station. The bus connectivity is also excellent in the area. One has to look for buses 21, B9, and 43 to head to the ground.

The football club conducts tours of the stadium on most days of the week, with access usually provided from Tuesday to Saturday. The tour includes the chance to see the tunnel, changing rooms, mixed zone, press room and presidential box. You will also have access to enjoy a 360º immersive experience of the pitch with the help of virtual reality glasses.

For non-members, the cost of a stadium tour is €16 for Adults, €9 for children aged between five to 14 years old and free for children under the age of five.

Real Sociedad’s primary local rival is Athletic Bilbao. These two clubs usually meet in the Basque Derby, a fiercely contested encounter that defines a historic rivalry between the cities of San Sebastian, where Real Sociedad are based, and Bilbao, the home city of Athletic Bilbao.

This rivalry is deeply rooted in the regional and cultural pride that the two clubs represent. Historically, Real Sociedad and Bilbao are tied to Basque identity. The Basque Derby is popular for the passionate atmosphere, although the rivalry is generally friendly off the pitch.

In the recent five encounters dated between  April 2023 and May 2025, Bilbao bagged three wins, losing once to Sociedad. It means only one draw was recorded in the recent five H2Hs. All these recent fixtures were La Liga encounters.

The renovation works done in 2019 have brought several features friendly to disabled fans. This includes easy access to the stadium from the parking, while some wheelchair spaces are also on offer. The tickets for the disabled can also be picked up at the ticket counter or online.

You can buy Real Sociedad tickets at the ticket shop or buy them online on the club’s official website. However, priority is undoubtedly for the season ticket holder.

In terms of prices, Real Sociedad have made sure that the tickets are affordable while still not compromising on the hospitality side of things.

The regular tickets can be as low as €30 to as high as €70. The hospitality tickets will cost substantially more. The North and South stands tend to have the cheapest tickets, while the upper section of the main grandstand tickets are the most expensive. The price of tickets would increase based on the opposition.
