Cheshunt FC announce trials beginning in June
Over on X.com (formerly Twitter), Cheshunt FC posted, “Have you got what it takes to be an Amber? We are now accepting applications for talented and dedicated players to join our first team for the 2024/2025 season, Sat 29th June 2024.”
Cheshunt announced in a statement on their website that the sessions will be taken by their “UEFA licensed coaching staff”. They added: “Please note there is a £40 registration fee. This fee will be reimbursed to players who are successfully asked to join Cheshunt FC for the forthcoming season. If you are unsuccessful we will advise you of what step, we think you should be aiming for.
“Book your place on our popular trial to realise your ambition of playing for a semi-professional football club.”
Fans react to Cheshunt FC trials
@Ronaldcoll67131 said: “What a joke players are missing out because clubs are becoming greedy.” Another fan added: “Embarrassing “the ability to pay over the ability to play”. My advice is avoid go to a manager & club that values you. Sadly too many sharks & con artists. £40 spend it towards new boots or shin pads not line @cheshuntfcscore pockets.”

Aiden Palmer, who played for the likes of Leyton Orient, Cambridged United and Ebbsfleet United during his playing career said: “Great achievements but you’re charging £40 for a trial that’s criminal. I’ve never heard a club charge for a trial it’s nonsense. I hope no one turns up.”
