How was the data for the report gathered?
LiveScore used data from 25,000 football fans who use their app, including 10,000 users in a controlled survey and the other 15,000 through social media data.
Participants in the study were both male and female and from the UK exclusively, ranging in age from 18 to 55. LiveScore gathered the data in November 2023.
Football fans consume content every day
In their Evolution of a Fan report, LiveScore found that 92% of football fans engage with football content at least once every day.
As well as this, 84% of the fans surveyed felt more connected to their preferred team, largely due to personalised instant score updates and push notifications provided by digital platforms.
“Digital revolution” well underway
The report highlighted that nearly 80% of football fans prefer to use mobile apps instead of a physical newspaper to consume content.
AI algorithms have helped to push forward the rapidly developing “digital revolution,” with personalised news updates for football fans only the push of a button away.
LiveScore CEO Sam Sadi, said: “We have been able to uncover some fascinating insights of how fans have enjoyed their favourite sport over the last quarter-century, and how technology has guided habits, accessibility, and passion.
“This digital revolution has already paved the way for more personalised experiences, powered by AI algorithms with the power to fuel a vast reservoir of individual data, and dynamically curate content based on individual preferences.
“This personalisation extends beyond match updates to include tailored news feeds, personalised highlights, and predictive analysis.”
