Keys Park

The club moved to Keys Park in 1995, after leaving their former Cross Keys ground, where they had been playing for 92 years. The purpose-built Keys Park is only a short distance from their old home. The football ground is situated on the edge of Hednesford in an industrial area. On one side of the stadium is the Main Stand. This covered all seated, single tiered stand, is raised above pitch level with the team dugouts located out front. It contains 710 seats and roughly is half the length of the pitch in size, straddling the half way line. There are small portions of open terrace to either side. At the back of the stand are some hospitality areas.

Behind one goal at the Hednesford End is a small covered seated stand, which has a capacity of 300. Although situated directly behind the goal it doesn’t extend to the full width of the end, having a portion of open terracing to one side (towards the Main Stand). The other two sides of the ground are similar-sized terraces. When first built they were open to the elements by have since had roofs erected over them. There is also a small club shop, located at one corner within the ground (in-between the Main Stand and Hednesford End), that offers a good selection of programmes from local clubs.

Hednesford Town currently plays in the Southern League Premier Division Central (Step 7 of the English Football League Pyramid and three leagues below the Football League).

If segregation is in force then away fans are mostly housed in the Hednesford End which has a mixture of covered seating and open terrace. In addition open terrace to one side of the Main Stand is also allocated. In total just under 800 fans can be accommodated in these areas. Joesph Plant a visiting FC United fan adds; ‘When we played there, our fans were also given half the side terrace, located opposite to the Main Stand. The atmosphere was good inside the ground with our fans really making some noise from the Hednesford End. My only gripe was that only two turnstiles were open for away fans, which led to long queues. However it was a record crowd of 4,412 on that day’.

There are two bars inside the stadium, which are located upstairs above the Main Stand, which welcome away fans. Normally only one of these is open to fans on matchdays. However if segregation is in force then both bars are open, with one (Strikers Bar) being specific for away fans. Both these bars have excellent views across the ground.

Otherwise there is the Cross Keys pub and hotel which is about a ten minute walk away on Hill Street. This pub is listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide and has up to eight real ales on tap. The pub landlord used to play for Hednesford and the connection to the Club goes further as the former Cross Keys football ground was locate at the rear of the premises. Unfortunately there are no remnants of the ground remaining as it was redeveloped for housing. The pub also has Sky Sports television and there is a handy fish and chip shop situated across the road.

From the North
Leave the M6 at junction 12 and take the A5 towards Cannock. Proceed along the A5 for four miles until you reach a roundabout, where you take the A460 towards Rugeley/Hednesford. Go straight across four roundabouts and at the fifth (where there is a Texaco Garage and a McDonalds outlet) take the third exit onto Hemlock Way. At end of Hemlock Way go straight across at the roundabout and at the next roundabout turn right into the stadium approach road.

From the South
Leave the M6 at junction 11 and take the A460 towards Cannock. Continue along the A460 and on passing a tall Ramada Hotel on your left you will reach a large roundabout. Take the A460 towards Rugeley/Hednesford, then as the North directions above.

From the East
If approaching Hednesford along the A5 from the East, then on reaching the roundabout that has a Toby Carvery on the far right hand corner, then turn right onto the B4145 towards Hednesford. On reaching a roundabout take the second exit (in-between the Five Ways Inn and GEM Bedroom Furniture) continuing along the B4145. Go straight across the next roundabout and then at the next turn right into Keys Park Road. Then turn right at the next roundabout into the stadium approach road.

Car Parking
There is a fair-sized car park at the ground which costs £2.

Hednesford Railway Station is situated just over a mile away from Keys Park and should take around 20 minutes to walk. The station is primarily served by trains from Birmingham New Street.

As you come up the steps off the station platform and onto the main street, turn right and walk straight along this road through the town centre. You will reach a crossroads with a set of traffic lights (Woody#s Music Bar is on the right hand corner) and here you turn right onto Uxbridge Street (A460). Going up the hill and passing a church on your left you will reach a roundabout. Take the second left into Hill Street going towards Heath Hayes. Continue straight along this road and after passing the Cross Keys pub on your right, you will reach another roundabout at which you turn left into Keys Park Road. Proceed up the hill and at the next roundabout turn right onto the stadium approach.
