The home of Philadelphia Union is located just five miles south of Philadelphia International Airport, and is a multi-purpose facility that boasts 29 luxury suites, a built-in concert stage, and a full-service club restaurant. The sideline roofs were designed to protect fans from the elements, without obstructing their views of the iconic Commodore Barry Bridge and Delaware River.
The stadium opened in June 2010, and has since picked up several different awards, including Best Sports/Recreation Project of the Year from Mid Atlantic Construction Magazine. As well as hosting MLS matches for Philadelphia Union, the venue has hosted various college matches, including the Battle of the Blue, which features Villanova University and University of Delaware football, as well as the USA Sevens Collegiate Rugby Championship, and NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse matches.
Founded in 2007, a supporters group called Sons of Ben was instrumental in the founding of the club and its stadium, petitioning for MLS to expand to the Philadelphia market. The group, named after Benjamin Franklin, was included in the expansion press conference, as well as being present at the naming ceremony at City Hall in 2009. Smaller supporters groups include The Keystone State Ultras, who can be found in section 140 of Subaru Park, La Union Latina in section 114, the Tammany Saints in sections 101 and 133, the Corner Creeps in section 134, the IllegitimateS in section 133, and the Bridge Crew in sections 120-121. The club’s primary rival is D.C. United.
Tickets for the 2021 MLS campaign are now available, and can be found here.
