Lincoln Financial Field is the home stadium of the NFL side, the Philadelphia Eagles, and it has been in operation since 2003.
The stadium has quite an unusual design, with open corners and lopsided stands – some span three tiers while others span just one. The overall look is impressive, though, particularly the two towering stands that run along the sides of the pitch, which are designed to look like an eagle’s wings.
Unlike a lot of modern stadiums in the USA, Lincoln Financial Field still has several standing room only areas in operation. These areas are where the most vocal fans typically congregate, and are well worth knowing about if your priority is atmosphere over view.
A trip to the ‘Linc’, as the locals call it, isn’t the same without a pre-match tailgate. The tailgate scene outside the stadium is said to be one of the best in the USA, so it’s well worth getting down to the stadium well in advance of kick-off whenever you have a ticket for a match here.
The facilities inside are excellent, even if food and drink prices are a little pricey.
Lincoln Financial Field will play host to six matches during the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. These matches are as follows:
- 14 June: Group Stage match
- 19 June: Group Stage match
- 22 June: Group Stage match
- 25 June: Group Stage match
- 27 June: Group Stage match
- 4 July: Round of 16 match
As the home of one of the most popular and best NFL franchises, Lincoln Financial Field is no stranger to celebrity culture. The following famous faces have all been spotted at the stadium in the past:
Michael Jordan
Michael Jordan attended the Philadelphia Eagles’ opening game of the 2025 NFL season as a guest of the Franchise’s star quarterback, Jalen Hurts.
Pretty cool: Michael Jordan attended last night’s Eagles game at the Linc as a guest of Jalen Hurts.
Greatness.

Bradley Cooper
Bradley Cooper, one of the most famous actors in the world, is a Philadelphia native and a regular at Lincoln Financial Field. He even visited the stadium for his 50th birthday in January 2025.

Rob McElhenny
Rob McElhenny gained international fame for his role in the hit TV show ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’, so it is only right that is an avid Eagles fan.

American football culture isn’t the same as ‘soccer’ culture in Europe, whereby fans have several chants for their favourite teams and players. Having said that, there is one chant that is often heard at Lincoln Financial Field, and that is ‘Fly Eagles fly’. Check out a video of the chant below.
Tifos aren’t as popular in the USA as they are in Europe, but American sports fans do give them a go from time to time. Back in 2014, Eagles supporters unveiled a tifo at Lincoln Financial Field, but it didn’t quite go to plan, as can be seen by the image below.

As mentioned earlier, Lincoln Financial Field has quite a strange design, but that does offer up different vantage points across the stadium.
The ‘best’ views of the action can be found in the two winged stands that run along the sides of the pitch. For a bird’s-eye view of the action on the pitch, aim for the most central blocks in the third tier of each stand. If you’d rather get up close and personal to what’s going on on the field, look to buy tickets in the lower tiers.
There are several Standing Room Only sections around the stadium. These can be found in the following sections:
- Above the Miller Lite Phlite deck
- In the Miller Lite Field House
- In the Pepsi Plaza
- Headhouse Plaza
- Chrysler Jeep Corner
- South Corner
- Pepsi Zone Plaza
- Bud Light Eagles Nest
Seating plan

The following bars are all within walking distance of Lincoln Financial Field, and are great spots to grab a beer and a bite to eat before and/or after the match:
- Chickie’s and Pete’s – 1526 Packer Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19145, United States
- Stateside Live – 1100 Pattison Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19148, United States
- Philadium – 1631 Packer Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19145, United States
For fans who prefer drinking and eating inside the stadium while the match is taking place, you won’t be short of options at Lincoln Financial Field. Fans are able to purchase hot dogs, burgers, fries, chicken sandwiches, burritos, pizzas, calzones and more, while snacks such as popcorn, crisps and candy are also available.
In terms of drinks, beer is served through different vendors all around the stadium, while children and fans who don’t drink alcohol can buy soft drinks.
Some people are understandably put off by the pricing inside the stadium for food, but that doesn’t mean you have to starve. There are plenty of restaurants near the stadium, which are well worth a visit before or after the match. Three of our recommendations are as follows:
- Chickie’s and Pete’s – 1526 Packer Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19145, United States
- Gatehouse – 4503 S Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19112, United States
- Luk Fu Philly – 900 Packer Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19148, United States
The easiest way to get to Lincoln Financial Field is to use the local public transport system. Fans can take the SEPTA Broad Street Subway Line to Pattinson Avenue. From here, the stadium is a short walk away.
Those coming from further afield, take the Regional Rail Train to the Suburban Station. From here, board the southbound Broad Street Line to Pattinson Avenue.
For fans who drive to the stadium, there are several car parks available. Using the map below, please note that lots labelled A-V and D, E, J, K and L are reserved, while the rest are available to the general public on the day.
You can expect to pay anywhere between $20-$100 on matchday.

Lincoln Financial Field currently has a capacity of 67,594, and it has stayed roughly around this figure since it opened in 2003. Renovation work did take place in 2013, and although seats were added, the capacity didn’t significantly increase as seats were taken away in other parts of the stadium.
The stadium has been designed in such a way that future expansion work could be easily completed. The most logical next step would be to fill in the corners, which would take the capacity close to the 80,000-mark.
Lincoln Financial Field stadium tours currently take place every Friday. There are three tours available for guests:
- Self-Guided Tours
- Guided Tours
- Private Tours
Regardless of which tour you select, you are going to follow the same path. You will visit the Eagles locker room, the tunnel, the post-match interview room and best of all, go pitchside to get a feel for what it would be like to play sport at the stadium.

The idea of Lincoln Financial Field was first presented in the late 1990s, when the Philadelphia Eagles’ hierarchy started to desire a new, modern stadium to replace Veterans Stadium.
Construction on Lincoln Financial Field started in 2001, and it opened two years later with Manchester United and Barcelona playing a pre-season friendly in its first event. A few months later, the Eagles played their first-ever NFL match at the stadium.
It has since gone on to host non-sporting events, including major concerts, and underwent renovation work in 2013. This work included the addition of more seats, upgraded screens and improved Wi-Fi.
The future looks bright for the stadium, too, with six World Cup matches set to be played here.
