Stade du Moustoir is an enjoyable away day experience in Ligue 1, with the ground located in the centre of Lorient which allows visiting supporters to explore the town before and after the game.
Away fans typically sit in a corner in the North stand, which is separated from the main stand by a steel fence.
The atmosphere inside the stadium can be electric and vibrant, particularly during games against their local rivals.
It is recommended that away fans embrace the local culture, with Lorient boasting several delicacies that should be tried. Lorient is a fishing town and is known for its fresh seafood as a result, while the famous Breton crepes are a must-have.
Lorient have a number of dedicated supporter groups, including the Merlus Ultras 1995, the Breizh Tango and the Celtic An Oriant who drive the atmosphere inside Stade du Moustoir.
Some of the chants regularly heard at the ground include:
- Hymne officiel du FC Lorient
- Merveilleux Lorient
- Allez Lorientais
The main stand is perhaps the best place to sit for a good view of the game, particularly in the central sections, while the best atmosphere is in the South stand where the ultras typically sit.

In order to meet the standards required of a top-flight stadium, major renovation work was carried out. Further redevelopment took place in 2009 with the construction of a new South Stand, while Lorient became the first Ligue 1 club with an artificial playing surface when one was installed in 2010.
However, in 2017 a hybrid grass surface was installed and all the seats in the North and West stands were replaced as part of a major refurbishment project.
