Owing to the drawn-out nature of its construction, the 2017-opened Stadio Benito Stirpe is a modern venue with an old-school design that will be familiar to English fans due to its rigid, rectangular shape that is reminiscent of countless stadiums up and down the EFL.
Away fans can expect good viewing angles from all areas of the ground, as well as cover from the rain in each stand. Generally, the visiting supporters are situated in the south-west corner of the stadium.
Stadio Benito Stirpe is not the biggest out there, seating just 16,227, but the crowd can produce a lively atmosphere on matchdays, especially in the Curva Nord, where Frosinone’s ultras sit.
Frosinone Calcio promoted to Serie A
After finishing as runners-up in the 2025-26 edition of Serie B, Frosinone Calcio are set to play top-flight football at Stadio Benito Stirpe once again.
I Canarini last featured in Serie A back in 2023-24 but were immediately relegated, and the club will be hoping for more success this time around during what is just their second appearance in the division in eight seasons – and their fourth ever.
The ultras in the Curva Nord are known for their original chants, many of which include references to Lions, a symbol that features prominently in Frosinone’s coat of arms.

The stadium itself is in a largely residential area, but the historical centre is just a short distance (2km) away and chock full of places worth visiting.
Parco Matusa – Via Mola Vecchia, 12, 03100 Frosinone FR
This public park – built on the site of Frosinone’s old stadium, Stadio Matusa – is a good spot for a pre-match walk, and features an on-site cafe.
Piazza Norberto Turriziani – Via Angeloni, 79, 03100 Frosinone FR
Visitors can find great views of the Sacco Valley from Piazza Norberto Turriziani, the renovated square in the city’s historic centre. Make sure to check out the cafes in the area, as well as the markers that follow Frosinone’s old tram line along the ground.
Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta – Piazza Santa Maria, 03100 Frosinone FR
A real historical landmark, the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta was built on the site of a temple to Mars, atop the hill where the ancient Roman acropolis stood.
The Cathedral itself is an amalgamation of different eras, with a marble-floored, Baroque-style interior and 16th century bell tower, as well as bronze statues of Frosinone’s two patron saints Hormisda and Silverius, both of whom were popes born in the city.
Museo Archeologico Comunale – Via XX Settembre, 32, 03100 Frosinone FR
A museum showcasing Paleolithic, Archaic and Roman artefacts, the Museo Archeologico Comunale has an admission price of just €2 for full-priced adults and €1 for concessions, not to mention that entry is free for under-18s, over-65s, disabled visitors and their accompanying people.
Villa Comunale – Via Marco Tullio Cicerone, 31, 03100 Frosinone FR
Villa Comunale is one of the city’s main public parks, and hosts exhibitions in its central building from time-to-time.
Frosinone initially decided that moving to a new ground was necessary way back in the 1970s, due to overcrowding issues owing to the old Stadio Comunale Matusa’s location in the south side of the city.
However, while construction began in the 1980s, financial difficulties meant that the Canaries were unable to finish the project until the 2010s, when the club began to rise up the Italian football pyramid.
A sum in the region of €20m was dedicated to building Stadio Benito Stirpe, which finally opened in 2017 after two years of construction. Now that Frosinone are back in Serie A, the team will be hoping that a lengthy spell in the top flight can fuel a bright future for the club, free from the financial strife of the past.
Frosinone contest the Derby del Basso Lazio against Latina, and also have long-standing rivalries with Sora and Casertana, but they have rarely met at senior level in recent seasons due to the Canaries’ rise to Serie A.
In the top flight, Frosinone will lock horns with both Roma and Lazio in the Derby del Romano-Ciociaro, though given the Canaries’ relatively light history in Serie A, genuine between the clubs are still to brew.
