Saunders Transport Community Stadium is a fine non-league stadium, and one that has undergone a transformation over the past decade to modernise and improve what Farnborough Football Club already had.

The standout feature of the stadium is the new stand at the Prospect Road End of the stadium. This stand is now all-seated and painted blue, reflecting the club’s new official colours.

The overall capacity of this standalone is 1,300, and it wouldn’t look out of place in the EFL. It is comprised of 13 rows and has a high back wall and roof. There is not a supporting pillar in sight, meaning that spectators can enjoy a great view of the playing area.

Visiting supporters are more than welcome to sit in this stand too, as home/away segregation is not usually enforced at the ground.

The facilities at the stadium are what you’d expect at a non-league ground, with a reasonably sized toilet area and a decent selection of food/drink.

On one side is the strange-looking Charles Mortimore Stand (Main) Stand. It looks a little odd as one side of it looks different to the other side. The stand comprises covered seating (to the rear), some of which has been elevated above pitch level. There are a few supporting pillars along the front of the older side of the stand, whilst the newer side is obstruction-free.

The front portion of the stand contains uncovered seating and has the team dugouts integrated into it. The total length of the stand is around half the length of the pitch, and hence, there are small terraced areas to either side.

Opposite is a small covered stand that runs for around two thirds the length of the pitch, and again, there are several supporting pillars running along the front of it. Originally, this was a covered terrace, but was subsequently made all-seated.

At one end is the latest addition to the stadium, the Prospect Road End, which has proven to be the most popular area to watch the match since it opened in 2011. This is also the stand for disabled supporters.

At the other end of the ground is the Moor Road End, which is a terrace with cover at the rear and an open terrace to its front. Around 1,000 fans can be accommodated in this area.

By car

Leave the M3 at Junction 4 and take the A331 towards Farnborough. At the bottom of the slip road, you will reach a roundabout where you take the exit towards Farnborough.

Continue along this road for a short distance, ignoring the first turn-off, but then take the next turn-off towards Farnborough (A325). At the top of the slip road, you will reach a roundabout where you take the right-hand exit towards Farnborough. Then straight across the next roundabout, continuing towards Farnborough/Frimley.

At the next roundabout, take the left-hand filter lane continuing on the A325 (from this poin,t Farnborough FC is signposted). You will pass a Shell Garage on your left and at the next set of traffic lights turn right into Prospect Avenue and then at the bottom of the Avenue take the 3rd exit at the roundabout into Cherrywood Road. Go straight across at the next roundabout, and the entrance to the ground is a little further down on the right.

By public transport

Frimley Railway Station is the nearest to the ground, being around a 15-minute walk away. However, this station is on a local line, and if you are coming from London Waterloo, then you will end up instead at Farnborough Main station, which is around one and a half miles away from the ground (around a 25-minute walk away).

Aldershot Town

With just five miles separating both clubs, Farnborough’s biggest rivals are Aldershot Town. Both clubs have strong military connections through Aldershot’s garrison town roots.

Woking

Located in Surrey – about 15 miles away – Woking are also considered to be a local rival. The rivalry intensified when both clubs competed in the Conference National in the early 2000s.

Guildford City

Although not a modern rivalry, historically there was tension when both clubs were active in the Southern League scene. It has been a while since the rivalry was last re-ignited.
