King Abdullah Sport City Stadium

The stadium is a typical bowl-shaped facility which was opened in 2014. In 2009, the stadium was announced in the King’s decree, but it was initially announced to be bigger than it currently is. The announcement initially stated the capacity would be big enough to fit 100,000 people inside and would house numerous buildings over an area covering 900 hectares. In 2011, the plans were severely downscaled to a capacity of just over 60,000 and would sit on an area of 300 hectares.

If you take a look outside of the impressive stadium, you will find an athletic stadium, an indoor arena, training pitches and a mosque. The entire complex was built to be fitted into a large circle with the two major highways in Jeddah very close by, making it easily accessible for those wanting to visit in a car. There are over 25,000 parking spots – they made sure there would be plenty of parking options if a car is your choice of travel.

All four stands are connected, with each stand being divided into three very compact tiers, which ensure all fans get a good view of the pitch. The roof is 60 meters long but does still cover all spectators if you somehow watch a game and get caught in the rain.

Located just a few minutes walk away, you will come across a Starbucks to the south of the complex or if you choose to head north you will find a bakery, a shawarma restaurant and a Fantasy Bite grill place. All three of those options are a few minutes walk south of the complex.

More options south of the complex include a Dunkin’ Donuts, a buffet restaurant and a coffee shop.

If you don’t want to be stuck with just a Starbucks, then definitely head south and not north.

If you are an away supporter attending a game at The King Abdullah Sports City Stadium then you will expect to receive the same experience as home supporters do.

If you are attending the stadium in a car then you will drive along either Route 55 or Route 285 which will then bring you to Prince Khaled Bin Abdullah Road. From that road you can access gates 2 and 3, which takes you to a ring road which goes around the entire stadium. From there you can access one of the 25,000 car parking spaces alongside the multiple football pitches and tennis courts around the stadium.

By Bus

The closest bus station to The King Abdullah Sports City Stadium is the King Abdulaziz University Bus Station, a 26-minute drive away. The bus would take an immediate right away from the station before turning left onto Route 45/King Abdullah Road. From there, take the slip road onto Route 5/Route 55M for 29 kilometres before taking the exit towards Prince Khaled Bin Abdullah Road. Then you would arrive at The King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.

By Train

Located a short walk from the King Abdulaziz University Bus Station is the Jeddah Al-Sulaymaniyah Train Station, a 28-minute drive from the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.

Tickets for the upcoming 2023/24 are not on sale yet due to the fixtures for the upcoming Saudi Pro League not being released as of yet.
