Everton’s new stadium will host something very different this summer, and supporters will even get the chance to take part themselves.

Supporters can play golf inside Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer

Everton have announced that fans will be able to play golf inside Hill Dickinson Stadium in July.

The club is teaming up with Upper Deck Golf, which creates golf experiences inside major sports venues, for a four-day event running from July 16-19th.

Participants will tee off from high up in the stands and aim at custom-built greens placed across the pitch below.

The event will take place during the same week as The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, allowing visitors to watch live coverage of the tournament inside the stadium while taking part.

It will be the first time Upper Deck Golf has staged one of its events outside North America.

The company has previously hosted similar experiences at iconic venues including Yankee Stadium, Dodger Stadium and Wrigley Field.

Everton chief revenue officer Aaron Duckmanton said the event would give fans a chance to see the stadium “from a completely different perspective”.

FGG says: A clever and different way for Everton to boost revenue

Football clubs are always looking for new ways to generate extra revenue from their stadiums, but this is one of the more creative ideas we have seen.

Hill Dickinson Stadium is already likely to attract concerts and other major events, but letting supporters play golf inside the ground feels genuinely unique.

With The Open taking place just down the road at Royal Birkdale, the timing also makes perfect sense.

For Everton, it is another example of how the club are trying to make their new stadium work all year round rather than just on matchdays.
