Arsenal kick-started their new season in style on Sunday afternoon, recording a dominant 3-0 win over Manchester City in the Community Shield.

The match, which was played at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff for the first time in 20 years, was the perfect way for the Gunners to begin their season, and their fans enjoyed every minute, using the afternoon as an opportunity to not only revel in their club's success but also to taunt their opponents.

The match was not supposed to be as straightforward as it turned out to be for the Gunners. With Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka only fit enough for a place on the bench, many people had City as the pre-match favourites, but after scoring in the opening minute, Arteta's men never looked back.

For Enzo Maresca, it was the worst possible start to his tenure as Manchester City boss. Following the success the club enjoyed under Pep Guardiola, the fact he has missed out on his first opportunity to win some silverware, and the manner in which it happened, is a concern.

It didn't take long for the Arsenal fans to start taunting Maresca, either. Barely 30 minutes had been played when the first rendition of “You're getting sacked in the morning” came from the Arsenal end, and it was heard again in the second half shortly after the Gunners went 3-0 up.

While the chants were tongue-in-cheek, this is something he is going to have to get used to from opposition fans. Following in Guardiola's footsteps is no easy task, and every defeat is going to feel like a crisis.

After the game, the Italian confirmed that the club will bring in more reinforcements before the end of the transfer window, something that now feels necessary following the loss to Arsenal and the news that Rodri is joining Barcelona.

Arsenal fans have gone very early here, and although nobody seriously thinks that Maresca is going to be sacked, they may have just given him and his squad some extra motivation to wrestle back the Premier League title from the Gunners this season.
