Brighton supporters took aim at Arsenal with a hilarious Tottenham chant during Saturday’s 3-0 Premier League victory at the Amex Stadium.
The Seagulls produced an impressive display to hand Arsenal their first league defeat of the season, with the home fans making the most of the opportunity to mock their visitors.
Pascal Gross opened the scoring in the 31st minute, finding the corner from outside the box to put Brighton ahead. Arsenal struggled to respond, with the hosts continuing to cause problems through their physical approach and attacking intensity.
Charalampos Kostoulas then doubled Brighton’s advantage just before half-time, leaving Mikel Arteta’s side with a major challenge after the interval.

Chema Andrés completed the scoring shortly before the hour mark, heading home Brighton’s third and effectively putting the result beyond doubt.
With the home crowd celebrating another goal, Brighton supporters turned their attention towards Arsenal and began singing: “Are you Tottenham in disguise?”

The chant was a reference to Arsenal’s north London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, who had also endured a difficult afternoon. Spurs were beaten 3-2 at home by Aston Villa earlier in the day, leaving them still searching for their first Premier League victory of the campaign.
Brighton manager, Fabian Hurzeler was full of praise for his team after the match. He told reporters:
“Beating the current champions and the best team in England is something special. But it’s not because the result is special; it’s the performance. The boys showed real togetherness and intensity.”
The Brighton boss was particularly pleased with the way his side competed physically against Arsenal.

Even the most hardened Arsenal supporter would have found the chant amusing, as ultimately, the butt of the joke was Tottenham, even if Arsenal were having a bad day at the office themselves. The international break has come at a good time for the Gunners, as it will allow the dust to settle before they attempt to put things right and reclaim top spot in the Premier League table.
