Chelsea warn fans of ‘strongest possible action’ after controversial chant during Fulham win

Chelsea have warned supporters they could face the ‘strongest possible action' after a sectarian chant was heard during Monday's Premier League win over Fulham.

The club has also reminded fans that discriminatory chanting will not be tolerated and could result in stadium bans.

A section of the Blues' away support at Craven Cottage was heard singing ‘Flute for 50 Pence', a chant which includes an offensive reference to the Pope and the IRA.

Chelsea subsequently contacted supporters who attended the 3-2 victory by email, thanking them for their backing while highlighting multiple reports of sectarian chanting from a small section of the travelling support.

The club warned that anyone found guilty of discriminatory chanting could face indefinite suspension from attending Chelsea matches and ejection from the stadium.

Chelsea also asked supporters to report discriminatory behaviour to matchday stewards or through the club's reporting system, with the Football Association monitoring the circumstances.

The FA previously fined Lincoln City £8,500 in October 2025 after similar chanting was repeatedly directed towards former Wrexham and Republic of Ireland player James McClean, meaning Chelsea could potentially face a sanction of their own.
