Crystal Palace’s long-running plans to redevelop Selhurst Park have taken another significant step forward following a fresh planning submission linked to the stadium expansion project.

The club continue to push ahead with proposals designed to modernise the stadium, improve the matchday experience and increase capacity by more than 8,000 seats.

Selhurst Park expansion plans progress with new application

Crystal Palace have submitted a new planning application connected to the wider Selhurst Park redevelopment project as work continues behind the scenes on the proposed stadium transformation.

The latest application relates to construction logistics and environmental management plans tied to the club’s previously approved expansion proposals.

Those wider plans include more than 8,000 additional seats, increased internal floor space, new retail and restaurant facilities, and major changes around the stadium footprint.

Among the most notable features are plans for a new fan plaza using the club car park on matchdays, a new corner stand linking the Holmesdale Road and Arthur Wait stands, pitch lengthening works and further accessible seating within the Whitehorse Lane Stand. Floodlighting changes, TV gantry removal and alterations to surrounding land and parking areas are also included.

The application, submitted by Montagu Evans LLP on behalf of Crystal Palace, is now awaiting a formal decision from the planning authority.

FGG says: Another encouraging sign Palace are finally building momentum

Selhurst Park’s redevelopment has felt painfully slow at times in recent years, so this latest step will be welcome news for Palace fans desperate to see real movement at last.

While the new planning application is mostly procedural, it still represents meaningful progress toward transforming one of the Premier League’s oldest grounds into a modern stadium that reflects the club’s long‑term ambitions.

The inclusion of fan plazas, improved accessibility, and upgraded hospitality areas also shows Palace are thinking beyond simply adding seats, as they’re trying to elevate the overall matchday experience.

For a club that has spent years battling to stay competitive financially, bringing Selhurst Park into the modern era remains one of the most important projects in Crystal Palace’s recent history.
