England supporters have reacted with disbelief after discovering the cost of parking near Boston Stadium ahead of the Three Lions' 2026 World Cup clash against Ghana.
With transport already a major talking point at the tournament, fresh frustration emerged when fans learned they could be charged up to $200 (£150) simply to leave their car near the stadium.
England fans baulk at parking costs near Boston Stadium
Images circulating on social media showed general parking priced at $150 (£112), while VIP parking reached $200 (£150) for England's second Group L fixture.
The prices quickly sparked criticism among supporters, many of whom were already facing expensive match tickets, accommodation costs and transport charges during their trip to the United States.
Boston has become one of the tournament's most heavily criticised host cities when it comes to fan travel, with dedicated train services costing around $80 (£60) return and reports of lengthy delays before and after matches.
Supporters reacted angrily online, with many describing the parking fees as “scandalous” and excessive, and also questioned whether fans were being unfairly exploited throughout the tournament.
The criticism comes amid wider scrutiny of World Cup pricing, with ticket costs, transport charges and food prices all generating debate during the opening weeks of the competition.
FGG says: Another example of why fans feel priced out of this World Cup
The actual parking prices are eye-watering enough, but the bigger issue is that they form part of a growing list of costs supporters are being asked to absorb at this World Cup.
When fans are already paying hundreds or even thousands of pounds for flights, hotels, and match tickets, being charged up to £150 to simply park your car understandably leaves a sour taste.
For many travelling supporters, it is yet another example of why the 2026 World Cup is increasingly being viewed as an event that is becoming harder and harder for ordinary football fans to afford.
