Everton are reportedly set to perform a major u-turn ahead of their move to Bramley-Moore Dock in the summer with the club now reportedly considering keeping Goodison Park going as a football stadium for their women's team.
The original plan for the stadium was to demolish it and create a legacy project which included new housing, offices and community facilities. The club were even advertising a farewell to Goodison Park event in the days before the demolition but now everything has been thrown up in the air.
According to a report in the Mirror, the club's new owners, Friedkin Group, have commissioned a feasibility study to see if keeping the famous old stadium for the women's team could be a possibility. At present, Everton women play their home games at Walton Hall Park Stadium.

Goodison Park U-turn: A move that could work out for everyone
If the feasibility study comes back and says that keeping Goodison Park open for Everton Women is a viable option, then it could be a perfect solution to a problem that Everton could be facing very soon.
The current stadium at Walton Hall Park is soon going to be inadequate in terms of future WSL requirements for stadiums as the women's game continues to grow so Everton are going to need to either find a new permanent home for the women's team or put money into a renovation at Walton Hall Park.
If they can just move to Goodison Park, which has a capacity of 39,572, then there will be no need for any of that. The women's team are also expected to play a few matches each season at Bramley-Moore Dock but it won't be considered their permanent home.

FGG says: A no-brainer for the new owners
There are large sections of the Everton fanbase who would be very sad to see Goodison Park knocked down so this is an easy way for the new owners to get the fans onside immediately. Having the women's team play at Goodison would also help them grow at a far quicker rate.
