Everton supporters are preparing to make the first Merseyside Derby at the club’s new stadium a memorable one.
And the atmosphere could give the Blues a major lift before Liverpool even arrive.
Everton fan group plans Hill Dickinson coach welcome before Liverpool clash
Toffees fan group, The 1878s, have announced plans for a major coach welcome and tifo display ahead of Everton’s first derby against Liverpool at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Fans have been urged to line Regent Road near the stadium ahead of the team coach arriving at around midday on Sunday.
The welcome is set to follow the same format as the one organised before Everton’s recent 3-0 win over Chelsea, when flares, flags and thousands of supporters created what many described as the best atmosphere yet at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
This time, the 1878s are also planning a huge tifo inside the ground before kick-off to mark the first Merseyside derby at the new waterfront home.
The previous coach welcome against Chelsea is understood to have had a big impact on the players, who then responded with one of their best performances of the season.
Everton boss David Moyes later admitted the atmosphere “felt more like Goodison” than at any previous game in the new stadium.

FGG says: Hill Dickinson Stadium could be about to have biggest moment yet
The new stadium has already produced a few memorable nights, but this feels different.
The first-ever Merseyside derby at Hill Dickinson was always going to be emotional and intense, but these plans could take it to another level.
The Chelsea game showed just how much of an impact the atmosphere can have — on the players and on the opposition.
If Everton fans can recreate that and go even bigger for Liverpool, it could give the team a huge boost on what is already shaping up to be one of the biggest days in the stadium’s short history.
