Ever since Everton moved out of Goodison Park and into the Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer, the club's supporters have been constantly reminded by the club that their new home will bring in the type of revenue that will help the club rise up the Premier League table.
The idea is that the location and stature of the stadium will lend itself to hosting more than just football matches, something Goodison Park was barely capable of by the time the Toffees played their final match at their old home in May 2025.
Although the full benefits of the move won't be obvious for a couple of years, there are already signs that these claims of greater revenue from the Everton hierarchy weren't just lies being spun to convince supporters of the switch.
Breaking non-football records
So far, the Hill Dickinson Stadium has proven to be a big hit with Rugby League. The sport's version of the Ashes took place here back in November, and the success of that event prompted the RFL to book the stadium for the Super League Magic Weekend on 4 and 5 July.
This weekend is an exciting one in the Rugby League calendar, with all 12 Super League teams competing at the same stadium over two days of action.
In recent days, it has emerged that the decision to play the event at the Hill Dickinson Stadium has gone down well with Ruby League supporters across the country, as this year's edition has become the fastest-selling in history.

RL Commercial’s Director of Marketing and Communications Joe Steel said:
“There’s a clear excitement about taking one of the biggest dates in the rugby league calendar to Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium – and it’s brilliant to see supporters responding in this way.
“We’re hoping it will be the biggest and best Magic WKND yet, with all the ingredients there to make for an absorbing and enthralling two days of action.
“Plenty of supporters who witnessed the Ashes Test match at Everton in November were amazed by the world-class venue. And Super League is looking forward to being the next to take the stage.”
FGG says: This still won't be enough for many
For some Everton supporters, the move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium will never be justified. Increased revenues and more opportunities in the transfer market would perhaps be a better selling point if the club had shown more nuance with transfers in recent years.
