Ferencváros ultras produced a pyro display with other fans inside the Groupama Aréna to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the club during their match against Debrecen. The Budapest-based team have won the last six Hungarian league titles and currently sit 17 points clear at the top of the table.

A guide to the Ferencvaros ultras
The main Ferencvaros ultras group is called ‘Green Monsters’ and they were formed back in 1995 with members mostly between the ages of 18 and 40. They are located behind the goal at the Groupama Arena in sections B1-B2-B3-MVM and C1. In an interview with one member of the Green Monsters, they said, “It is necessary to think about Ferencvaros as a life style,” and that “For sure, we are the number one ultra-group of Hungary's most popular and successful team. We keep ourselves to this and try to stay the best!”
Pyro display to celebrate anniversary for Debrecen match
For this match, I was located in the Telekom Sector, located in the adjacent stand to where the Ferencvaros ultras were located. The Green Monsters and the rest of the stadium sang the pre-match anthem “Hajrá Fradi” ahead of the game.
Following this rendition of the Ferencvaros anthem, the first-half was largely uneventful, with both sides limited to few chances. Shortly after the break, though, the Green Monsters started a red pyro display in their section, along with supporters in the lower section of the Main Stand.
One hundred and twenty five Red flares were waved around in unison across the Groupama Aréna to create a blur of smoke over the pitch as the Ferencvaros players searched for the opening goal. The significance of the number 125 is that Friday, May 3, marked the 125th anniversary of the Hungarian club.
The red pyro display inspired the Fradi players to find a way past Debrecen, as they scored five second-half goals to secure a dominant 5-1 victory. After the match, the Ferencvaros players went over to the ultras to applaud them for their support throughout the 90 minutes. They have already won the Hungarian league title this season and exited the Europa Conference League against Olympiacos in the play-off round in February.
