West Ham United have endured a torrid Premier League campaign so far, and with just one game of 2025 to play, the Irons are five points from safety.

The early-season switch from Graham Potter to Nuno Espirito Santo has done very little for their prospects of Premier League survival, and they are now odds-on with the bookies to be playing in the Championship next season.

The fans have been left frustrated with several facets of the club this season, but their main issue is with the club's major shareholder, David Sullivan. They feel that years of underinvestment in the transfer market have ultimately led to this point, and many of them feel as if relegation is now an inevitability.

Former PL midfielder says West Ham should lose the London Stadium

If the club are relegated to the Championship in the coming months, then they should have the London Stadium taken away from them. That is, at least, according to Talksport presenter and former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O'Hara.

Speaking on his radio show on Saturday night, O'Hara said:

“I think if they go down, they shouldn’t be allowed that ground. They would have to vacate and share with Leyton Orient or something. It’s unacceptable to have the Olympic Stadium in the Championship. It’s unacceptable.

“This thing is used to watching winners, gold medallists, and they’re going to have Championship football. It’s unacceptable. They should vacate.”

If West Ham are relegated, then the Staidum would become the largest ground in the second tier by some distance, with a capacity of 62,500.

FGG says: A stadium the fans never wanted

O'Hara's suggestion of taking the London Stadium away from West Ham won't have gone down badly with the club's supporters.

The vast majority of West Ham fans were against the decision to move the club into the former Olympic Stadium back in 2016, and many still yearn for the days when they could call the Boleyn Ground ‘home'.

While a return to their old stadium is an impossibility due to its demolition shortly after West Ham left, a move elsewhere would suit a lot of fans down to the ground. However, there is next to no chance of that happening, thanks to the 99-year London Stadium lease the club signed nearly a decade ago.
