England fans are notoriously good travellers when it comes to major international tournaments and they've lived up to their reputation at Euro 2024. After a low turnout at the World Cup in 2022 due to it being held in Qatar, England fans have doubled their efforts for the Euros and made their presence felt.

Prior to the tournament, they were served several warnings from UK and German officials about their conduct amid fears of violence given their behaviour at previous international tournaments.

How many England fans are in Germany for Euro 2024?

So far, England have played matches at Euro 2024 in three different cities across Germany – Gelsenkirchen, Frankfurt and Cologne. On Saturday, they will visit a fourth city, Dusseldorf, to see the Three Lions take on Switzerland in the quarter-finals.

Overall, it's impossible to put an exact figure on the number of England fans that have been in Germany for Euro 2024 but police officials estimate that the number is in the hundreds of thousands.

For the upcoming match with Switzerland, more than 40,000 England fans are expected to be in Dusseldorf despite England only being given an official ticket allocation of 6,700. It's anticipated that England will ‘take over' the stadium Merkur Spiel-Arena, just like they have in every other stadium they've played at during the tournament.

How have England fans behaved at Euro 2024?

It's been a mixed tournament for England fans as far as their behaviour is concerned but in terms of violence off the pitch, they've been praised by officials. After the group stages, the UK Football Policing Unit said that ‘the vast majority of England fans have behaved extremely well.'

However, the tournament hasn't passed by without incident. They clashed with Serbia fans before their opening group stage match, with one England fan being arrested, and further arrests have taken place at other cities for offences relating to assault and causing bodily harm.

Following Germany's exit from Euro 2024 on Friday night, England fans clashed with Germany fans in Dusseldorf after goading them about their exit. Meanwhile, they have also turned on their own, with some England fans throwing plastic cups at Gareth Southgate after the draw with Slovenia.

England songs at Euro 2024

England fans have been praised for building good atmospheres in each city they've been to. A contributing factor to that is the wide array of England football songs.

The most popular song during Euro 2024 has been the new Phil Foden song which is sung to the tune of Dancing in the Dark by Bruce Springsteen. They have also been heard singing various songs about Jude Bellingham and other classics about football coming home.
