Chelsea begin their 2026 pre-season tour of Australia on Tuesday, 28 July, when they face Western Sydney Wanderers at Accor Stadium in Sydney Olympic Park.
The fixture is the opening match of the Sydney Super Cup and marks Chelsea's first appearance in Australia for more than a decade.
With a capacity of 83,500, Accor Stadium is one of the largest sporting venues in the Southern Hemisphere, and public transport is the easiest way to reach the ground, while supporters planning to drive should allow plenty of extra time.
Football Ground Guide takes a look at the best ways for Chelsea fans to get to the stadium.
How to get to Accor Stadium by train
Olympic Park Station is the closest railway station to Accor Stadium and is only a five-minute walk from the venue. For most Chelsea fans, travelling by train is the quickest and easiest option.
Regular shuttle trains run between Lidcombe and Olympic Park every 10 to 20 minutes on weekdays, with services increasing during major events.
Supporters staying in Sydney's CBD should take a T2 or T3 service from Central or Town Hall to Lidcombe before changing onto the Olympic Park line. The journey from Central Station usually takes between 30 and 40 minutes, depending on connections.
Additional express and limited-stop services often operate for major events, so supporters should check the Transport for NSW journey planner closer to matchday for the latest travel information and any planned trackwork.
It is also worth checking your match ticket before travelling, as some major events include free public transport. Details will be confirmed by the event organisers and Transport for NSW before the match.
How to get to Accor Stadium by bus
Several Sydney Buses routes serve Sydney Olympic Park throughout the week, including Route 525 (Parramatta to Strathfield), Route 526 (Rhodes to Burwood) and Route 533 (Sydney Olympic Park to Chatswood).
For larger events, additional Major Event Buses operate from various parts of Sydney, providing direct services to Olympic Park. Chelsea fans travelling from areas not served by the rail network should check the Transport for NSW website before travelling to see whether special event buses will be running.
Road closures around the precinct can affect normal bus routes, so allow extra time and check for service updates before leaving.
How to get to Accor Stadium by ferry
Sydney Olympic Park Wharf is the nearest ferry terminal, although it is around 3.6km from the stadium, roughly a 40-minute walk. Route 526 buses connect the wharf with Olympic Park, making the journey much easier.
The ferry is a good option for supporters staying along the Parramatta River, including Meadowbank, Ryde and Rhodes.
However, it is less convenient for those based in central Sydney because of the extra transfer. Ferry services can become very busy on event days, so allow plenty of time if travelling this way.
How to get to Accor Stadium by taxi or rideshare
Taxi ranks are located near the Novotel Sydney Olympic Park on Olympic Boulevard, just a short walk from the stadium.
Uber and other rideshare services use designated pick-up and drop-off points on Dawn Fraser Avenue. Heavy traffic is common before and after major events, so journeys can take longer than expected.
Surge pricing is also common after the final whistle. If possible, wait 20 to 30 minutes before booking your return trip or arrange a collection point and time with your driver in advance.
How to get to Accor Stadium by car
Supporters travelling by car can reach Sydney Olympic Park via several major roads.
- From the north: Victoria Road, Silverwater Road and Holker Street.
- From the south: Parramatta Road and Hill Road.
- From the east: Parramatta Road via Birnie Avenue or Hill Road.
- From the west: Silverwater Road and Holker Street, or Hill Road.
Parking should be booked well in advance through the Sydney Olympic Park website. Organisers recommend reserving a space at least seven to 10 days before the match, while advance bookings close at 11.59pm on the day before the event.
Leaving the car parks after a major event can take more than an hour because of the large crowds, making driving the least convenient option for most Chelsea supporters.
Before setting off, check Live Traffic NSW for the latest road conditions and any matchday traffic updates.
