Jamie Carragher has risked the wrath of Liverpool supporters by waxing lyrical about Everton's new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.
The new 52,000-seater stadium is set to become Everton's new home stadium at the beginning of the 2025-26 season and ahead of the Merseyside Derby on Wednesday night, Carragher was asked what he made of the new stadium.
In a word, Carragher told host Kelly Cates that he thought the stadium was ‘fantastic', before adding:
“I drive past it most days. This stadium is for Everton, but even if you’re in the city of Liverpool you look at it in awe. It’s great for Everton more importantly than anything, but for the city, it also looks fantastic on the water. It’ll give them great hope.”

Carragher in trouble over Everton stadium remarks
Despite being widely considered a Liverpool legend after his player career, Carragher does often upset sections of Liverpool's fanbase over some of the comments he makes in the media. Some Liverpool fans feel that he is overly critical of some players while giving others a free pass.
There is also the acceptance that the former centre-back was a die-hard Everton fan growing up which doesn't sit right with some supporters.
His comments about the new Everton stadium have riled up some Liverpool fans online. One Liverpool supporter took to X to say: “No Carragher mate, you’re probably in awe of it because you’re an Everton fan.”
Another added: “Why would we be in awe of their stadium when ours has recently been done up and looks stunning?”
A third referenced Gary Neville in their critique of Carragher, posting: “He (Neville) actually spoke better of us than Carragher did last night. Carragher spent half his post-match talking about how nice Everton’s new stadium is.”

FGG says: Carragher may never escape his past
In many ways, it's admirable that Jamie Carragher has never shied away from the fact he used to go home and away with Everton as a teenager but it's something that many Liverpool fans hold against him to this day, despite his brilliant playing career for the Reds.
It's a stick used to beat him with whenever he says something that upsets the online Liverpool supporters and it's difficult to see that ever changing.
