Leeds fans react to heartbreaking Stuart Dallas retirement video

Leeds fans are reacting on social media to the moment Stuart Dallas announced his retirement in front of his Leeds United teammates.

The versatile Northern Irishman joined Leeds in 2015 and helped the club achieve promotion to the Premier League in 2020.

Leeds release video of Dallas' retirement announcement

Leeds posted a three-minute video of Dallas announcing his retirement to the Leeds squad and manager on Wednesday evening. Dallas stood up in front of the team, along with captain Liam Cooper and manager Daniel Farke, to announce the news.

The Northern Irishman was visibly emotional as he opened up about the struggles he has had with injuries in the last couple of years. Dallas picked up a femoral fracture injury against Manchester City back in April 2022 and has struggled to recover from this blow since.

In a club statement, Leeds described Dallas “as a legend for both club and country for his achievements in the game, whilst away from the pitch he has also shown his commitment to our local community, representing the club at numerous events and engaging regularly with supporters.”

The club added: “It goes without saying, Stuart is an icon of Leeds United and will always be welcome at Elland Road, his contribution will live long in the memory and he has cemented his place in history.

“We are currently in discussions with Stuart about a future role, to continue his association with the club going forwards.”
