Loudest Premier League stadiums: Stamford Bridge doesn’t make the top ten

For as long as football has existed, English football clubs have prided themselves on having loud and passionate fanbases. Despite the game becoming more and more sanitised over the years, one thing that has remained constant is packed-out stadiums in the Premier League.

It's one thing selling your stadium out but it's another making it consistently loud. To answer the question of ‘which club has the loudest Premier League Stadium' we've used fan data obtained by SkyBet. Below, is a list of the top ten loudest Premier League stadiums.

Loudest Premier League stadiums – The top ten

10) Amex Stadium

According to the SkyBet survey, the Amex Stadium is the tenth loudest stadium in the Premier League. While Brighton fans aren't known for being particularly loud, they have had plenty to shout about in recent years, especially after Roberto de Zerbi led them into Europe for the first time in history.

9) Goodison Park

Goodison Park only has one season left as a Premier League stadium before Everton move to their brand new state-of-the-art home at Bromley Moore Dock. Goodison Park can get very loud on its day, particularly when the big teams come to town, and it will certainly be missed when it's replaced in 2025.

8) The City Ground

Nottingham Forest fans are renowned for creating brilliant Premier League atmospheres and they have played a huge part in the club surviving relegation over the past two seasons. Their pre-match ritual of belting out Mull of Kintyre is a sight to behold at the City Ground.

7) Villa Park

Villa Park is one of the oldest football stadiums in the Premier League but its sense of tradition makes it one of the fiercest places to visit for opposition players and fans. The majority of the noise comes from the Holte End behind one of the goals and with Champions League football to look forward to next season, it's only going to get louder.

6) Etihad Stadium

Despite often being called the ‘Emptyhad', the Etihad Stadium was ranked as the sixth loudest Premier League stadium by fans who took the SkyBet survey. The Etihad has certainly had its moments where it has felt and sounded like the roof has been blown off – most notably on the final days of the 2011/12 and 2021/22 seasons.

5) Emirates Stadium

The reputation of the Emirates Stadium has improved significantly in recent seasons thanks to the efforts of Arsenal fan groups who have helped to improve the atmosphere inside the stadium. The fans now sing ‘North London Forever' before every home match and they have a section behind one of the goals for ‘Ultras'.

4) Selhurst Park

Speaking of Ultras, there are none more famous in the Premier League than the Holmesdale Fanatics. This group have helped to create brilliant atmospheres inside Selhurst Park for several seasons now, despite the football itself being rather turgid. With Palace now playing good stuff under Oliver Glasner, noise levels are only going to improve further.

3) Old Trafford

Old Trafford has frequently been compared to a library and there is a long-standing joke that the majority of fans inside Man Utd's stadium don't come from Manchester. However, on the occasions where the whole stadium is bouncing, there isn't a stadium louder than it in the Premier League.

The club's supporters have ‘reclaimed' the Stretford End this season with corporate hospitality being ripped out of the lower tier of the stadium's most famous end. Depending on how that goes, Old Trafford could rise up these rankings over the next year or two.

2) St James' Park

Coming in second place is St James' Park. Newcastle fans have always been proud of their club and kept turning up and belting out songs throughout the miserable Mike Ashley era. Now the club is on the up again, noise levels have been taken up a notch or two and it is now one of the toughest places to go in the Premier League.

Finishing as high as second is perhaps a little generous when you consider the fans were beginning to turn their backs on the club towards the end of the Mike Ashley reign. However, there is no doubt that the Toon Army can get this place rocking when they are in the mood.

1) Anfield

Famed for ‘You'll Never Walk Alone', Anfield has been voted as the loudest stadium in the Premier League by fellow supporters according to SkyBet. It's not something that many people would argue against, particularly when they are playing either Manchester United or Everton.

Despite the general acceptance around Anfield having a brilliant atmosphere, some of the club's own match-going supporters have started to comment on how it has gone downhill in recent years. Perhaps, Anfield is another case of a stadium's atmosphere suffering the bigger it gets.
