New AFC Wimbledon Stadium Plans Approved

In a truly historic moment Merton Council have given the go-ahead for AFC Wimbledon to construct a new stadium on the site of the former Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium. The initial phase will see the building of a new 11,000 all seated football ground, which could be expanded to 20,000 at a later stage if required. The Greyhound Stadium is located very close to the site of the Wimbledon's former football ground on Plough Lane.

New AFC Wimbledon Stadium

It has been a long road for the Club that had formerly lost their Plough Lane ground and then lost their identity with a move to Milton Keynes, which today still wrangles with many football fans, not only of Wimbledon, but of other Clubs nationwide. A fans initative 13 years ago, saw the 'reforming' and launch of a supporter owned AFC Wimbledon Club. The Club in that time have risen from the depths of Non-League to being a Football League Club once again and will soon have a new home to be proud of. It has been truly a remarkable achievement, by all involved with the Club.
