League Two teams are gearing up for the 2025/26 fixture release. With that, League Two attendance at every stadium will be the next focus of this post as soon as the new season kicks off.

Meanwhile, Carlisle and Morecambe, who were relegated to the National League, will be replaced by Barnet and Oldham, who have earned promotion to the fourth tier of English football. Carlisle registered the seventh-best attendance during the 2024/25 season, so it will be interesting to see if their fans turn up in the National League. Carlisle had one of the worst average attendances.

Four teams, namely Crawley, Bristol Rovers, Cambridge and Shrewsbury, who were relegated to League Two, will be watched closely, especially how their fans turn out in the 2025/26 season in the lower tier. Crawley registered the third-worst average League One attendance during the 2024/25 season. With that, will their fans be too demoralised to turn up for matches?

Bristol, Cambridge and Shrewsbury join League Two with the hope that they can improve on their modest average attendances to fuel their quest for a promotion back to the third division at the end of the next season. We take a look at the biggest League Two attendances below ahead of the 2025/26 fixture release.

Bradford City lead the way by a considerable distance, with an average attendance of 17,887 at the Northern Commercials Stadium, over 8,000 more than second-placed Notts County.

Both newly promoted sides have been supported well this campaign, but it is Chesterfield who come out on top when looking at League Two attendances this season. Their figure of 8,140 is enough to secure them third spot in the table above.

At the opposite end of the table, it is Accrington Stanley's Wham Stadium, which currently holds the lowest attendance trophy, whose figure of 2,520 is marginally lower than that of Harrogate Town.

Highest ever League Two attendance

You may not be surprised to learn that the record attendance ever achieved in a League Two game was during a play-off final between Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury Town at Wembley Stadium.

There was a crowd of 61,589 supporters at the ground on that day as Bristol Rovers secured a 3-1 victory over their opponents and promotion to League One.

It will likely be some time before that record is beaten. The 2024/25 League One promotion playoff final between AFC Wimbledon and Walsall was attended by 50,947 spectators.
