Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium expansion has reached another significant stage, with the latest footage showing major progress on the new skywalk structure.

Work is also continuing around Medlock Square as the neighbouring hotel area opens up to the public.

Etihad Stadium footage highlights Medlock Square progress

New footage filmed on September 11th shows the two main skywalk sections now fully connected to the top of the structure, marking another major milestone in City’s wider Etihad Campus development.

The update also shows continued progress on the stadium roof, with ten panels now installed, while further sections of the exterior are being cordoned off as work moves on.

Temporary walkways are being removed as the site gradually transitions towards its finished layout.

Away from the stadium itself, the hotel area around Medlock Square has now opened to the public, with exterior finishing work visible alongside a completed penthouse patio area.

Provisional surfaces around the square are also being replaced, with fresh concrete being poured as the surrounding infrastructure develops.

The footage provides a useful glimpse at how the different parts of the project are beginning to come together, while new skywalk sections continue to be assembled in the storage yard.

FGG says: Another encouraging Etihad Stadium revamp update

This is another encouraging update because the skywalk is one of the most eye-catching parts of the wider Etihad Campus project.

Seeing the structure connected and the hotel area taking shape makes the scale of what Manchester City are building around the stadium much clearer.

The Etihad is increasingly becoming about far more than matchdays, with the stadium expansion, hotel and Medlock Square development creating a much bigger destination around the ground.

There is still plenty of work to complete, but these latest changes suggest the transformation is moving firmly into its next phase.
