Panathinaikos away section: Guide for Chelsea fans

On Thursday, 24 October, Chelsea’s first away match in the main draw of this year’s UEFA Europa Conference League is set to take place in Athens at the Olympic Stadium. It is the largest sports stadium in Greece and is Panathinaikos’ temporary home until they move into their new ground, ‘Votanikos Stadium’, at some point in 2026.

What is the Panathinaikos away section like?

Chelsea fans will be located in the south-west corner of the Olympic Stadium in section 6. If the demand for the fixture is significant, though, section 5, which is in the lower tier, might be opened up for further away fans.

Panathinaikos are one of the most passionate fan bases in European football – and with a capacity of approximately 75,000, expect the atmosphere next Thursday to be electric, especially for the visit of the two-time European champions.

What is the Chelsea allocation?

Chelsea have been given an allocation of 3,310 for the trip to Athens. As per the club’s official website, they added that this “includes an allocation of six non-ambulant and six personal assistant tickets. Ambulant tickets will be taken from the main allocation.”

With plenty to explore in the city of Athens and the weather being far better than England in October, it is anticipated that more than 3,310 Chelsea fans will make the trip to the Greek capital next week to soak up the atmosphere.

The Blues have never faced Panathinaikos before and will be hopeful of securing back-to-back wins against their Greek opposition. So far this season, the 20-time league champions have struggled domestically – winning only two of their first seven matches.

They also drew their first Conference League game against FK Borac Banja Luke, who play in the Bosnian top flight. Meanwhile, Chelsea made 11 changes for their opening matchday victory against Gent and are expected to field a similar team when they face Panathinaikos.
