Arsenal’s dramatic victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium was overshadowed by ugly scenes in the stands that led to multiple arrests.

The Gunners moved a step closer to the Premier League title thanks to Leandro Trossard’s late winner, but crowd trouble after the goal sparked clashes between supporters and stewards inside the stadium.

Why were four fans arrested during Arsenal's win vs West Ham?

Four people were arrested following crowd trouble during Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over the Hammers at the London Stadium on Sunday evening.

The incident occurred after Leandro Trossard’s late winner sparked celebrations from several Arsenal supporters inside the home sections of the ground.

Footage shared online showed stewards escorting fans out of the stand before clashes broke out involving rival supporters nearby.

As tensions escalated, chants of “We’ll sit where we want” could be heard from the away end as travelling Arsenal fans reacted to the scenes unfolding elsewhere inside the stadium.

The Metropolitan Police later confirmed that four arrests had been made. Two men, aged 48 and 36, were arrested on suspicion of affray and assault, while a teenage boy was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated assault. Another 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a Class B substance.

According to reports, one steward suffered a broken arm during the disorder. Police say enquiries remain ongoing alongside the football club.

FGG says: A shame on what could be a huge day for Arsenal

With Arsenal edging ever closer to ending their long wait for another Premier League title, this should have been a day remembered purely for a massive, albeit controversial, result in the title race.

Instead, the post-match discussion has unfortunately been dominated by scenes in the stands.

Rival fans celebrating in home areas almost always carries the risk of confrontation, and there is never any excuse for violence or assaults on stewards simply trying to do their job.
