After several years of financial mismanagement, Reading are in a position this season to try to make their way back up the English Football League.
Currently in League One, the club's fans are finally optimistic about the future again, following the sale of the club to American investor Rob Couhig in 2025.
Couhig is looking to help take the club back to the Championship this season, something that didn't seem possible under former owner Dai Yongge, whose mismanagement of the club almost led to administration.
Ahead of the new season, Couhig has announced a raft of changes to the Select Car Leasing Stadium that could improve things both on and off the pitch.
Changes are on the way at the Select Car Leasing Stadium
Before the new season begins, the stadium will see a raft of changes. This includes a new public address system, Championship-standard floodlights and a solar energy scheme that will reduce operating costs.
Meanwhile, in the stands, every seat is being refreshed, while the toilets on the concourses are being refurbished. Additionally, a new safe-standing section is being installed in the 1871 Stand, which could have a hugely positive impact on the atmosphere at the stadium.
Good letter from Rob Couhig (emailed out just now) that's seemingly intended to address some specific points of recent frustration/concern among #ReadingFC fans.

Speaking directly to supporters, Couhig said:
“We understand the frustrations supporters have experienced over the past decade and a half. Every decision we make is driven by a desire to restore this club to where it belongs: competing in the Championship and ultimately challenging for promotion to the Premier League.”
“By the start of the season, we believe our stadium will be among the very best in League One and compare favourably with many in the Championship.”
FGG says: Cause for optimism in the South East
While every club in the English Football League are dreaming of playing in the Premier League one day, it feels like Reading have a real shot under their new ownership. They are acting on their promises already, and it would be a surprise if they are not a real force in League One next season. If they get things right, it won't be long until the Select Car Leasing Stadium is full and bouncing on a weekly basis.
